King Charles poised to host grand state visit for President Donald Trump

 September 14, 2025

A royal state visit replete with carriage rides and ceremonial splendor is set to unfold at Windsor Castle this September.

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump are scheduled to visit the U.K. from Sept. 17-19, 2025, in a visit hosted by King Charles III, a gesture reflecting the enduring alliance and ceremonial customs shared between the U.S. and the U.K., as Fox News reports.

This trip will be Trump’s second state visit to the United Kingdom, showing a continuous diplomatic rapport with the British monarchy. The visit was officially announced by Buckingham Palace in July.

Carriage processions, banquet to highlight visit

Foreign dignitaries’ visits such as this are coordinated by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and entail a series of traditional and ceremonial events. King Charles will host the visit at Windsor Castle, where the events promise pomp and circumstance befitting the historic ties between the two nations.

A ceremonial highlight will include a royal salute fired from both Windsor Castle and the iconic Tower of London, signaling the grandeur of this diplomatic encounter.

Following this salute, the Trumps will join King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton in a ceremonial carriage ride across the Windsor estate.

Adding to the regal itinerary, a luncheon with the royals will follow, uniting key members of the U.K.’s royal family with their esteemed American guests.

Lavish state dinner with celebrity presence expected

As evening approaches on Sept. 18, the guests will be treated to a state banquet -- one of the highlights of any royal visit. Around 150 distinguished guests are expected, linking cultural, diplomatic, and economic spheres.

The dinner could see a mix of King Charles’s favorite dishes, emphasizing organic British produce.

Though details remain confidential, Darren McGrady, a former royal chef, suggests the menu might feature wild mushrooms, lamb, and perhaps salmon from the Royal Balmoral estate, showcasing some of the finest ingredients associated with the British Isles.

While speculation about celebrity guests continues, prior state visits have included high-profile appearances, and this occasion is expected to maintain that tradition.

Cultural, memorial engagements planned

Beyond dining and processions, President Trump will participate in several culturally significant activities, including laying a wreath at St. George’s Chapel on the tomb of the late Queen Elizabeth II, a gesture of respect to the former monarch.

This will be followed by a spectacular aerial display featuring U.K. and U.S. military jets, including the Red Arrows.

Mrs. Trump will also have her own schedule of events, joining Catherine, Princess of Wales, for a visit to the picturesque Frogmore Gardens, a site steeped in royal history.

Additionally, the presidential couple plans to meet with the British prime minister, view the Sir Winston Churchill archives, and partake in a news conference, ensuring a robust engagement with British leadership and cultural heritage.

Public, royal expectations grow

Ingrid Seward, a royal commentator, emphasized the significance of this visit, noting it as a demonstration of the ‘soft power’ of the monarchy, which, while apolitical, strengthens relationships between states.

“Trump is extremely flattering of the royal family,” Seward noted, mentioning that the late Queen Elizabeth II found Trump quite amusing, which suggests a warm reception might await the American President.

This blend of formal activities and personal interactions between the Trumps and the British royal family highlights the deep-rooted connections and mutual respect that characterize U.S.-U.K. relations, setting the stage for a visit that is both ceremonially rich and diplomatically important.
