Trump Claims FBI Chief Christopher Wray Has Concealed Biden’s Health Issues, Should Resign

 July 26, 2024

Former President Donald Trump has voiced strong criticisms against FBI Director Christopher Wray’s testimony before Congress regarding the mental fitness of President Joe Biden.

Trump criticized Wray for downplaying concerns about President Biden's cognitive decline during his testimony to Congress and suggested that the director's resignation might be appropriate, as the Post Millennial reports.

On Wednesday, Wray appeared before the House Judiciary Committee, where he was grilled by several lawmakers, including Rep. Matt Gaetz, about the cognitive abilities of President Joe Biden. Gaetz brought forth concerns, highlighting the president's recent announcement that he would not seek re-election, as evidence of his potential cognitive decline.

In the hearing, Gaetz pressed Wray on whether he had briefed Biden outside of the president's purported "good hours" between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wray responded by stating that he had indeed briefed the president at various times, implying that Biden was capable of receiving information beyond the given timeframe.

Trump Reacts on Truth Social

Following the hearing, Trump took to Truth Social to criticize Wray's statements, accusing him of lying to Congress about Biden's mental fitness. Trump argued that if Wray genuinely believed there were no issues with Biden's cognitive abilities, he should resign immediately from the FBI.

"I watched the Congressional Hearing today as Christopher Wray was asked the question whether or not he noticed any Cognitive Degeneration in his many conversations with Crooked Joe Biden," Trump wrote.

He added that despite claims by then-special counsel Robert Hur suggesting Biden's incompetence and poor memory, Wray's testimony contradicted those assertions.

Trump Questions Wray’s Integrity

Trump's post further emphasized that Wray found nothing wrong mentally or physically with President Biden during their interactions, which the former president found implausible. "Essentially stating that he found nothing wrong, mentally or physically, with 'Joe,'" Trump noted in his post.

Trump then called for Wray's resignation, "If that is the case, Director Wray should resign immediately from the FBI and stop 'sweet talking' Congress," he demanded.

Trump expressed skepticism, stating, "Anybody can see that Joe Biden is cognitively and physically challenged, and if you can’t see that, you sure as hell can’t be running the FBI."

Gaetz’s Confrontation with Wray

Gaetz was notably confrontational with Wray during the testimony. He questioned Wray about who truly runs the country given concerns about Biden's cognitive abilities. "Who’s been in on this conspiracy to hide the real Joe Biden from all of us for years?" Gaetz asked, implying that there might be an effort to conceal Biden's true condition.

Gaetz also pointed out the significance of Biden's announcement not to seek re-election as indicative of his inability to fulfill his presidential duties effectively. This questioning underscored the persistent concerns among certain GOP members about the administration's transparency regarding Biden’s health.

Wray Defends His Interactions with Biden

In response to these allegations, Wray maintained that his experiences with Biden presented no concerning evidence of cognitive decline. During the hearing, he assured the committee that Biden’s cognitive and physical health appeared unremarkable during their meetings. "It is not something I observed during my interactions with him, which were uneventful and unremarkable," Wray testified.

Nevertheless, Trump's sharp criticism continued, tying Wray's leadership to the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago, an incident Trump has repeatedly decried as politically motivated. "Wray has to resign, and NOW, for LYING TO CONGRESS!" Trump exclaimed in his social media post.

Concerns Over Biden's Cognitive Health Persist

The debate over President Biden’s cognitive health is not new. Prominent figures such as vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance have also called for Biden to step down from the presidency, arguing that his decision not to run for re-election substantiates claims about his declining health.

This ongoing discussion regarding Biden’s mental fitness has highlighted broader issues related to transparency and governance, with accusations of a cover-up impacting public trust.

Continued Scrutiny of Biden’s Health

The scrutiny over Biden’s cognitive abilities, as raised by Gaetz and others, has continued to influence public opinion and political discourse. Wray’s testimony has done little to assuage these concerns, especially among those who view the president's health as a critical component of his ability to effectively govern.

In conclusion, the confrontation between Trump and Wray, underpinned by Gaetz’s aggressive questioning, reflects the heightened political tensions surrounding President Biden's cognitive health. Trump’s demand for Wray’s resignation underscores the former president's ongoing efforts to challenge the current administration.

This story reveals the intricate interplay between allegations of cognitive decline, political rivalries, and the broader implications for leadership and public trust in American governance.
