Actress Chanel Maya Banks Missing in Los Angeles as Family Suspects Foul Play
Los Angeles is currently the center of a distressing mystery involving the disappearance of actress Chanel Maya Banks.
Known for her roles in popular television shows, Banks has been missing since Oct. 30, sparking urgent family and police searches, as the Daily Mail reports.
Banks, an actress celebrated for her appearances in Gossip Girl and Blue Bloods, last communicated with her family via text at the end of last month.
Her cousin, Danielle-Tori Singh, has been vocal about her concern over Chanel's sudden and uncharacteristic silence.
Her last visual contact was a FaceTime call on Oct. 27. Since then, no one has seen or heard from Chanel, escalating worries about her well-being.
Chanel resides in Playa Vista, Los Angeles, with her husband, whom she married just last year. Despite their seemingly normal life, her disappearance has cast a shadow of doubt and suspicion, particularly directed towards her husband.
Family Joins Intense Search
Amid increasing anxiety, Chanel's family members have traveled to Southern California to aid in the search. Danielle Singh came from Toronto and Judy Singh from New York, desperate to find their loved one.
They discovered Chanel's belongings, including her emotional support dog and her car, untouched at her apartment. However, her phone and laptop, essential for her daily communications, were missing.
Danielle has taken a proactive approach by leading a fundraising effort to support the ongoing search. She also spearheaded the distribution of flyers across the community, which disturbingly, have been repeatedly removed by Chanel's husband.
Los Angeles Police Deeply Involved in Case
The Los Angeles Police Department has conducted multiple welfare checks at Chanel's residence throughout the month. Each visit concluded with the same unsettling discovery: Chanel was nowhere to be found.
This pattern of absence and the husband's suspicious removal of search flyers have raised significant concerns among both the family and the community.
Danielle's efforts have not gone unnoticed; a GoFundMe page has been established to cover the costs of a private investigator and other associated expenses, amassing about $3,000 of a $20,000 goal so far.
Singh Voices Deep Concerns Over Chanel's Safety
Danielle Singh expressed her distress to ABC7, emphasizing the abnormal nature of the situation, "Five days without hearing from my cousin is red flags and alarm bells. She doesn't go more than 48 hours without speaking to me or her mom... That girl is more like a big sister to me."
She also articulated suspicions about Chanel's husband, stating to ABC7, "Her husband is extremely suspicious. He is not willing to help LAPD. He's not willing to help me or her mom. He is removing flyers off of posts and cars."
The discovery of Chanel's dog alone at the apartment further intensified worries, as Danielle noted, "That dog is by her side for emotional support."
Unsettling Discoveries, Ongoing Community Efforts
As the search intensifies, disturbing details have emerged, including the husband's recent unexplained injuries. Police documented these injuries after being called to the scene on Nov. 10.
Judy Singh, Chanel's mother, has asked the community for prayers, highlighting the uncertainty surrounding her daughter's disappearance, "Pray for my daughter because, at this point, we don't know exactly [what happened]. We are hearing stuff here and there, people saying this and that, but I know that's not my daughter."
The family remains resolute, with Danielle vowing not to leave California until Chanel is found, encapsulating her determination, "I'm not going to leave California until I find my cousin."
