Cameroon Mourns The Passing Of Beloved Comedian "Mami Ton"

Cameroon's beloved actress, Céline Orgelle Kentsop, known as "Mami Ton," has died following a severe medical episode.

Cameroon Concord reported that Céline "Mami Ton" Kentsop passed away on the night of September 4 to 5, 2024, after suffering from a hemorrhagic stroke on August 10.

During a ceremony on August 10, 2024, Céline Kentsop suddenly suffered a hemorrhagic stroke, leading to her immediate hospitalization. Medical personnel rushed her to the General Hospital in Douala, where she remained unconscious until her death.

The national community closely monitored her hospitalization, and the government, under President Paul Biya's directive, covered her medical bills, reflecting her esteemed status in the nation.

Despite the best efforts of the medical staff, Kentsop's condition did not improve. Professor Henry Namme Luma, director general of the hospital, later remarked, "Despite these efforts, fate had the final say, and Mami Ton has left us."

Family Announces Mami Ton's Passing Through Social Media

Her family confirmed the sad news of her death through an emotional post on her official Facebook page, capturing the hearts of many followers and fans. They wrote, "Mami Ton has left us. Flowers for you, tears for us, mama. You fought hard; your children are proud of you. Thank you to all her fans."

Her daughter, Madage Mirette Mounira, poignantly noted the heavy rainfall on the night of her mother's passing as "a celestial tribute to her mother, symbolically accompanying her to the beyond," adding a poignant layer to the family's mourning process.
