In response to tariff threats from President-elect Donald Trump, Canada has announced plans to increase its purchases of American goods and services.

Canada's decision follows Trump's criticism of the trade imbalance between the two countries and tariff threats, the Daily Caller reported.

Canada's ambassador to the United States, Kirsten Hillman, revealed the plans on Wednesday. She expressed the country's readiness to bolster its procurement of U.S. products in the wake of Trump's tariff threats. The U.S. President-elect has criticized the trade deficit with Canada and suggested extreme measures like a 25% tariff if changes do not occur.

Ambassador Hillman remarked on Trump’s negotiating approach, noting that he often positions himself strongly in discussions to pursue the best outcomes. She commented, “We are happy to source what we can from the United States,” highlighting a willingness to address trade disparities by increasing imports from its southern neighbor.
