Rep. Chip Roy Exposes Border Crisis Impact During Biden-Harris Era

 September 7, 2024

Texas Republican Rep. Chip Roy has released a new report outlining the devastating consequences of the border crisis under the Biden-Harris administration.

The lawmaker's report, obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation, highlights the growing number of illegal migrants, the surge in suspected terrorists crossing the border, and the tragic increase in fentanyl deaths seen since the Democrats entered the White House.

Massive Influx of Illegal Migrants Detailed

Since President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris took office, millions of illegal migrants have entered the United States, according to the report. Roy’s findings state that over 8.5 million illegal migrants have crossed the U.S.-Mexico border, with 5.6 million of them being released into the country’s interior. These numbers represent a sharp increase in unauthorized entries since the administration began.

In addition to the influx of migrants, Roy’s white paper reports a concerning rise in suspected terrorists attempting to enter the U.S. In fiscal year 2023 alone, 169 known or suspected terrorists were apprehended at the southern border.

The report further alleges that 99 illegal migrants on the terror watchlist were released into the country between fiscal years 2021 and 2023.

Fentanyl Deaths Highlighted as Major Crisis

One of the most alarming findings in Roy’s report is the staggering number of fentanyl-related deaths. The report claims that fentanyl poisoning killed 75,000 Americans in 2023, averaging 200 deaths per day. Fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid, has been a leading cause of drug-related deaths in the U.S. in recent years.

According to Roy, the border crisis has allowed this deadly drug to flood into communities across the nation. The report calls on lawmakers to address the fentanyl issue as part of broader border security reforms.

Law Enforcement Overwhelmed, Tragic Consequences

U.S. law enforcement personnel have faced unprecedented challenges due to the current state of the border, the report claims. Roy highlights that 14 Border Patrol agents took their own lives in 2022, a figure nearly double the number from 2020.

The strain on law enforcement is further emphasized by a significant decrease in deportations of criminal aliens. According to the report, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deported only 44,096 criminal aliens in fiscal year 2022, representing a 62% decline compared to fiscal year 2020.

High-Profile Tragedies Blamed on Border Policies

Roy’s report also draws attention to several tragic incidents involving U.S. citizens, such as the deaths of Jocelyn Nungaray and Laken Riley, which the congressman attributes to illegal migrants entering the country due to lax border policies.

The congressman’s report blames these and other incidents on what he describes as failed border management under the current administration. Roy's report claims that the Biden-Harris administration's policies have created loopholes allowing illegal migrants, including those with criminal backgrounds, to evade enforcement and remain in the country.

Calls For Legislative Action to Address Crisis

In response to the findings of his report, Roy has urged Congress to take action. He calls for the passage of two key pieces of legislation: the Secure the Border Act and the SAVE Act.

The Secure the Border Act, according to Roy, aims to close loopholes that enable the release of illegal migrants into the U.S. interior. The SAVE Act focuses on preventing non-citizens from participating in federal elections, an issue Roy claims is tied to the broader border crisis.

Progressive Policies Blamed for Border Issues

The report places much of the blame for the current border crisis on progressive Democrats, whom Roy accuses of enacting policies that have worsened the situation. According to the report, these policies are part of a larger effort to fundamentally alter American society and consolidate power.

"Radical progressive Democrats have caused the worst border crisis in recent history, and the flames have spread to almost every state and locality in the nation," the report states. It goes on to describe the border crisis as a deliberate effort to establish a system of one-party rule built on government dependency.

Roy Warns of National Security Risks

Roy’s report warns that the national security implications of the border crisis are far-reaching. With suspected terrorists being apprehended at record levels and fentanyl deaths on the rise, the report argues that the current state of the border poses a direct threat to the safety and security of Americans.

The legislator insists that without decisive action from Congress, the situation will continue to deteriorate. He urges lawmakers to address the issues raised in the report before the crisis worsens further.

Conclusion: A Call for Urgent Reforms

Rep. Chip Roy's report on the border crisis paints a grim picture of the current state of immigration and national security under the Biden-Harris administration.

With millions of illegal migrants crossing the border, a surge in suspected terrorists, and a devastating fentanyl crisis, Roy argues that urgent reforms are needed.

He calls for legislative action through the Secure the Border Act and the SAVE Act, warning that without these measures, the crisis will continue to escalate and pose an ever-growing threat to the safety of the nation.
