Federal prosecutors say cocaine found on Hunter Biden’s gun holster

 January 18, 2024

Republicans in Congress are urging that Hunter Biden to face the full force of the law following the revelation that his Colt Cobra firearm, deemed illegally acquired was contained in a pouch bearing cocaine residue.

Special Counsel David Weiss's prosecutors unveiled alarming information regarding Hunter's alleged acquisition of the $900 gun while purportedly under the influence of drugs.

Hunter faces a three-count indictment for falsely denying his crack cocaine addiction during the gun purchase process, which could result in a maximum prison sentence of 25 years.

Tom Emmer (MN-06), the House GOP Whip, expressed to the Daily Mail that these new findings bolster arguments for Hunter Biden to be subjected to the same legal consequences as any other American facing similar charges.

Emmer emphasized that Biden is learning that his family name cannot protect him from facing the fallout of his actions.

Revelations and Investigations

Rep. Andrew Clyde (GA-09) raised concerns about the Biden Secret Service's failure to identify the person responsible for leaving cocaine in the White House last year. This query followed the FBI's discovery of cocaine in Hunter Biden's firearm pouch.

The incident to which he referred involved the discovery of a bag of white powder near the West Executive entrance of the White House.

The White House was evacuated, and the surrounding streets were closed, leading to an 11-day investigation. However, the investigation was ultimately closed due to insufficient evidence.

Tom Emmer criticized a lenient plea deal initially offered to Hunter Biden, which would have avoided trial for the firearms charges if he complied with parole conditions over 24 months.

However, this deal collapsed in court over the summer, leading to additional gun and tax charges against Hunter Biden.

Escalating Legal Battles

GOP leadership, including Emmer, is intensifying its impeachment investigation into President Biden. This includes efforts to have Hunter Biden testify in a closed-door deposition.

Hunter Biden has resisted congressional subpoenas, prompting the GOP to consider holding him in contempt of Congress. Emmer has declared a zero-tolerance policy for any further delays or antics from Hunter Biden in this matter.

Federal prosecutors revealed the cocaine traces on the gun as Weiss countered Hunter Biden's efforts to dismiss three felony gun charges.

Hunter Biden, 53, alleges that the Department of Justice succumbed to Republican pressure in indicting him and demands that the charges be dropped.

His attorneys have labeled the charges as politically motivated, but Weiss dismissed these claims as baseless and fictional.

The court documents also highlight Hunter Biden's admissions in his memoir about his prolonged drug use, including interactions with a drug dealer that prompted him to purchase a firearm.

Investigators found evidence of his drug purchases and usage in his Apple iCloud account, including videos of him using drugs.

The Purchase and Discovery of the Gun

Prosecutors detailed Hunter Biden's purchase of the Colt Cobra 38SPL, an HKS Speedloader, and ammunition from a Wilmington, Delaware, gun store in October 2018.

They allege that Biden falsely answered "no" when asked if he was a drug user, which allowed the gun purchase to move forward.

The firearm and related items, totaling $900, were later discovered by his then-girlfriend, Hallie Biden, in his car.

She discarded the weapon in a grocery store trash can located near a school, after which police retrieved the gun and other items.
