Cruz Criticizes Major Funders For Backing Anti-Semitic Campus Protests

 May 1, 2024

In a recent podcast episode, Senator Ted Cruz launched a pointed critique against prominent left-wing funders, accusing them of financing anti-Semitic protests on college campuses.

On his Verdict podcast, Cruz claimed that the Soros' Open Society Foundations and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund have financially supported groups linked to campus protests, as the Daily Wire reports.

During the podcast, co-hosted with Ben Ferguson, Cruz detailed his concerns regarding the rise of anti-Semitic protests across various U.S. universities, including institutions like Columbia, Yale, and Harvard.

The senator specifically mentioned that these protests have been prevalent at universities such as the University of Southern California, Berkeley, Ohio State University, and Emory University, highlighting the widespread nature of the issue.

According to Cruz, radical groups orchestrating these events have received substantial financial contributions from George Soros' Open Society Foundations totaling at least $300,000 since 2017.

Rockefeller Brothers Fund Also Linked to Campus Protests

Additionally, Cruz discussed the financial involvement of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, which he reported as having donated $355,000 to these groups since 2019.

His remarks also included a strong condemnation of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, questioning the integrity and motives of those associated with it.

"Let me stop and say something. The Rockefeller Brothers Fund, let me ask you, is there anybody around the Rockefeller Brothers Fund who’s not an anti-Semite? Who’s not a bigot? Who’s not an anti-American vicious Marxist? If there is, get them to stop it," Cruz expressed vigorously during the podcast.

Funding Fuels Copycat Campus Tents

Cruz highlighted the structured and repetitive nature of these protests, noting that "copycat tents" had been set up at several prestigious universities, indicating a coordinated effort.

"There’s real money behind it. And if you look at it, in many instances, so copycat tents had been seen at Harvard, at Yale, at Berkeley, at Ohio State, at Emory, and they’re organized by branches of the Students for Justice in Palestine, SJP, funded by George Soros," he stated.

He underscored the involvement of the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), a group he described as being significantly funded by Soros, in organizing these campus events.

Leftist Professors Accused of Spreading Marxist Views

The senator also touched upon the role of academia in shaping student perspectives, criticizing leftist professors for allegedly promoting Marxist ideologies on campuses.

"The view of those Marxist academics is if you’re killing oppressors, that’s a good thing," Cruz remarked, discussing the influence of such ideologies in justifying violence.

He further explained the Marxist narrative adopted by some academics, which portrays Palestinians as victims in the context of Middle Eastern politics, advocating for violent uprisings against perceived oppressors.

Cruz Calls for Action Against Funded Anti-Semitism

The episode concluded with Cruz calling for awareness and action against the financial streams supporting such protests, highlighting the need for accountability from funders like the Open Society Foundations and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund.

He reiterated the significant sums involved and the impact such funding has on campus climates, urging stakeholders to reconsider their support for what he views as harmful activities.

"The radical groups received at least $300,000 from Soros’ Open Society Foundations since 2017 and it also took in $355,000 from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund since 2019," Cruz pointed out, calling for a reevaluation of these contributions in light of their effects.

Conclusion: Reflecting on Funding and Campus Protests

In conclusion, the podcast sheds light on the financial and ideological influences behind anti-Semitic protests at U.S. colleges.

It highlights the roles of Soros' Open Society Foundations and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund in funding these activities, alongside the ideological support purportedly provided by Marxist academics.

Cruz's comments emphasize the need for scrutiny and accountability in the funding of campus activities that could foster divisiveness.
