Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett's lavish travel expenses raise eyebrows amid possible Senate bid

 November 14, 2025

Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas is making headlines for spending big on luxury travel while eyeing a U.S. Senate seat.

Representing Texas’s 30th district as a Democrat, Crockett has spent over $25,000 on high-end hotels and limousine services outside her district in 2025, according to a recent Federal Election Commission (FEC) filing, all while gaining attention for her sharp criticism of President Donald Trump and a potential Senate run spurred by Republican redistricting efforts, as The Blaze reports.

Crockett, known for her fiery social media presence and outspoken disdain for Trump, has built a reputation as a leading voice on the progressive left.

Unpacking the Luxury Spending Spree

But it’s her campaign spending that’s turning heads now, with FEC reports revealing a taste for the finer things during trips to places like Martha’s Vineyard, Chicago, New York City, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

Think $4,175.01 at the Ritz-Carlton, $5,326.52 at the West Hollywood Edition in Los Angeles, and over $2,000 split between the Cosmopolitan and Aria resorts in Las Vegas -- just a slice of the plush accommodations she’s booked since January.

Then there’s $2,703.14 at the Edgartown Inn and $3,160.93 at the Coco, both in Martha’s Vineyard, alongside nearly $2,500 at luxury spots in New York City, painting a picture of extravagance that might not sit well with everyday Texans.

Security Costs, Senate Ambitions

On top of that, Crockett shelled out $50,000 for security services, a hefty sum that raises questions about the nature of her travels and whether they’re truly campaign necessities.

While some might argue security is a must for public figures, coupling it with limousine rides and five-star hotels starts to look less like prudence and more like a penchant for the high life.

Meanwhile, her musings about a Senate run have added fuel to the fire, especially since she’s framed it as a counterpunch to Republican-led redistricting in Texas that could threaten her current seat.

Political Motivations or Personal Vendetta?

In October, Crockett didn’t hold back on her reasoning, saying, "Because if you want to take my seat of 766,000 away, I feel like there has to be some karma in that to where I take your seat that is for 30 million away."

That’s a bold jab at her GOP opponents, suggesting a personal score to settle rather than a purely principled stand -- though one has to wonder if voters will see it as gutsy or just spiteful.

She went on to add, "So we are, you know, the primary is the primary. That's cool, but you got to win the general."

Public Perception, Odd Media Moments

Her Senate tease isn’t the only thing grabbing attention -- there’s also the peculiar recent incident with progressive radio host Stephanie Miller, who posted photos kissing Crockett’s sneakers, a stunt that many see as emblematic of fawning media bias toward left-leaning figures.

Blaze News reached out to Crockett’s office for a comment on the spending and Senate plans but got no response, leaving the public to speculate on whether this is all strategy or just a lavish misstep.

At a time when many Americans are tightening their belts, seeing a lawmaker drop tens of thousands on luxury travel might strike a sour note, especially for a politician who’s built her brand on championing the little guy against the powerful -- irony much?
