Donald Trump denounces current state of U.S.: 'The USA is dying from within!!!'

The holidays typically bring time for reflection on the good – as well as the bad – brought by the preceding 12 months, and this Christmas was apparently no exception in the case of former President Donald Trump, who issued fiery comments to all, lamenting what he feels is the sad state of the nation, as the New York Post reports.

Trump began posting his musings on his Truth Social platform in the early evening hours of Dec. 24, continuing to hold forth on Christmas Day, and the former commander in chief pulled no punches in terms of where he believes things stand as the nation approaches the start of 2023.

Tongue-in-cheek tidings

Posting from his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, Trump began with a sarcastically all-encompassing holiday salutation, writing, “Merry Christmas to EVERYONE, including the Radical Left Marxists that are trying to destroy our Country, the Federal Bureau of Investigation that is illegally coercing & paying Social and LameStream Media to push for a mentally disabled Democrat over the Brilliant, Clairvoyant, and USA LOVING Donald J. Trump.”

He continued his greeting, extending consideration to “The Department of Injustice, which appointed a Special 'Prosecutor' who, together with his wife and family, HATES 'Trump' more than any other person on earth.”

Trump capped the opening greeting by saying, somewhat unexpectedly, “LOVE TO ALL!”

Next-morning musings

The former president had more to express the following day, and much of it focused on what he views as the Biden administration's policy failings, particularly as they relate to the southern border.

“On this very cold but beautiful Christmas Day, look at our nation NOW on the Southern Border compared to only a short time ago during the Trump Administration,” his exposition began.

“We had the most SECURE border in our history, versus the 'horror show' that is happening now, with record setting numbers of people, many of them hardened Criminals (including Killers, Human Traffickers and Drug Dealers), POURING INTO OUR COUNTRY at a rate the likes of which we have never seen before.”

Underscoring just how dire Trump assesses the current conditions to be, he added, “The USA is dying from within!!!”

Airing of grievances

Though the border crisis was certainly one of Trump's primary areas of focus, he did not hesitate to articulate a full laundry list of areas in which he believe President Joe Biden has undermined the progress he made during his tenure in the White House.

“Just two years ago we were Energy Independent, had almost Zero Inflation, there was no war with Russia and Ukraine (would NEVER have happened!), ISIS was defeated, our Military was rebuilt and respected (before the disaster of Afghanistan), our Border was Strong, the Economy was GREAT, the China Virus was in retreat (Operation Warp Speed was considered a modern day 'miracle'), and we weren't the laughing stock of the World,” Trump stated, in evident exasperation.

In what read like something of a warning to a nation he believes must take action to effect a prompt course correction, Trump added, “TODAY, LIKE NEVER BEFORE, WE ARE A NATION IN DECLINE, A FAILING NATION!”

Leaving no grievance stone unturned, Trump on Christmas Eve also took aim at the House committee probing the Jan. 6 unrest, writing, “The Unselect Committee's January 6th Report is a Hoax, no different than RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA, and all of the other Scams that the Disinformation laden Democrats have been planting for years,” a comment perhaps intended as an answer to the panel's decision to issue criminal referrals in the matter to the Justice Department last week against Trump.

Christmas projection

Though Trump's posts were panned by critics as sounding like the crazed rantings of an angry old man, Christmas remarks offered by President Joe Biden earlier in the week also attracted their fair share of derision, as Fox News noted.

According to ABC News, Biden on Thursday delivered what was billed by the White House as a “Christmas address,” and in doing so, he issued a call for kindness and unity, something numerous observers said rang quite hollow given his own participation in rancorous partisan politics over the past two years.

While Biden expressed his hope that “this holiday season will drain the poison that has infected our politics and set us against one another” and lamented that “our politics has gotten so angry, so mean, so partisan, and too often we see each other as enemies, not as neighbors, several pundits called him out for rank hypocrisy.

Spokesperson for House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (D-CA), Chad Gilmartin, fired back at the president's speech, saying, “How does Joe Biden get away with this phony unity rhetoric after he smeared half the country as domestic terrorists and compared anyone who opposes his radical agenda to segregationists?”

Spencer Brown of Townhall.com was similarly unimpressed, musing, “Says the guy who tried to turn Americans against each other over a vaccine and often yells about ~half the country being fascists,” acerbically adding, “Spare us, you old grinch.”
