Ex-FBI officials warn Congress of invasion at southern border

 January 28, 2024

A group of ten former FBI officials have expressed their deep concerns to the U.S. Congress about the current state of the nation's border security.

These retired officials, who hold extensive experience in counterintelligence, assert that the influx of illegal immigrants, particularly military-aged males from various parts of the world, poses a significant threat to the United States.

They believe that this situation has rendered the U.S. "extraordinarily less safe and secure," as reported by The Blaze.

Unprecedented Threat and Diminished National Security

In their letter, these ex-FBI operatives describe the current situation as an unprecedented threat to the country. They emphasize that America has never before faced such a challenge to its homeland security.

The letter states, "In its modern history the U.S. has never suffered an invasion of the homeland and yet one is unfolding now."

The officials expressed alarm at the sheer number of individuals who have evaded apprehension, a figure that stands at a staggering 1.7 million since January 2021.

The Nature of the Infiltration

The former FBI officials highlight the strategic nature of this influx, viewing it as a "soft invasion."

They raise concerns that these individuals, coming from regions not friendly to the U.S., could be potential operatives in a plan designed to cause catastrophic harm to the country.

The letter specifically mentions the influx of individuals from nations that are known to harbor anti-U.S. sentiments, including countries on the terrorist watchlist and states sponsoring terrorism.

The Potential for Catastrophic Events

The retired officials draw attention to the potential for attacks on American soil, reminiscent of past international terrorist incidents.

They warn of the dire consequences should such an event be replicated in the U.S. This concern is heightened by the relatively limited public discourse on the possibility of an attack by these foreign elements.

Call to Action

The ex-FBI experts urge immediate action to address this crisis. They advocate for the need to secure the borders and identify and remove those who have entered illegally.

Emphasizing the need for a coordinated effort among the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and other intelligence agencies, they press for swift and decisive measures to counter this threat.

Government's Responsibility Highlighted

The officials end their letter with a stern warning about the consequences of inaction.

They state that should a preventable attack occur, it would be a "shameful travesty" and a sign of a grievous failure by the government.

Their message is that the current border situation is not just a policy issue but a pressing national security concern.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) shared a copy of the letter on the X social media platform along with the caption: "This sobering letter from former FBI, Homeland Security, and other law enforcement officials describes the chilling reality of why the president’s open border is a clear and present danger to America."
