Fani Willis attacks lover’s wife, accuses her of obstructing Trump case

 January 20, 2024

The case Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is pursuing against former President Donald Trump in Georgia is reportedly facing significant challenges.

In a seemingly desperate move this week, as questions about her conduct continue to mount, Willis publicly criticized her alleged romantic partner's wife, Joycelyn Wade, as The Blaze reported.

The lawyers representing the Democrat D.A. accused Joycelyn Wade in a court filing on Thursday of "obstructing" the contentious case against the Republican front-runner and of trying to tarnish Willis' reputation.

Background of the Case

The complications for Willis started on Jan. 8, following a motion to remove her from the case, citing alleged misconduct and potential illegal activities.

The motion also hinted at possible collusion between the Biden administration and Willis' office.

It accused Willis of engaging in a personal relationship with Nathan Wade, an attorney she hired for a key role in the Trump prosecution.

The allegation extends to misuse of Fulton County funds for personal trips. While Willis has not fully denied these accusations, she has publicly stated that she did not show preferential treatment to Wade.

Developments in the Legal Arena

The matter intensified when a process server, on behalf of Joycelyn Wade, served a subpoena at Willis' office, demanding her testimony in a deposition related to Nathan Wade's divorce proceedings.

This move is seen as potentially relevant to the ongoing dispute between Willis and Trump's legal team.

Furthermore, Judge Scott McAfee of Fulton County Superior Court has scheduled a hearing for Feb. 15 to address these allegations, requiring Willis to submit a written response by Feb. 2.

Willis' Response to the Allegations

The Associated Press reported that Willis' legal team has described the subpoena as an effort to harm the District Attorney's reputation.

They allege that Joycelyn Wade conspired with others involved in the Trump case to misuse the civil discovery process against Willis.

In a recent address, Willis portrayed herself as a target of racial bias, suggesting that her actions and character are under undue scrutiny because of her race.

Additionally, her lawyer, Cinque Axam, implied that questioning Willis' conduct is interfering with the Trump case.

Questions Raised Over Willis' Claims

Ashleigh Merchant, representing one of Trump's co-defendants, expressed skepticism about Willis' claims, questioning why truthful testimony would harm her reputation.

Merchant accused Willis of attempting to fabricate a conspiracy where none exists.

In a recent development, Willis insinuated in an email that some defense attorneys in the case harbor racist attitudes which have prompted what she feels is unfair scrutiny.
