Fetterman waves Israeli flag at pro-Palestinian protestors

 January 30, 2024

Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman made a striking gesture last week in the face of pro-Palestinian demonstrators outside his home.

Protesters, voicing their discontent, accused him of endorsing "genocide" due to his support for Israel.

"Fetterman, Fetterman, you can't hide! You're supporting genocide!" shouted the left-wing protesters, as The Blaze reported.

The lawmaker's response was both visual and unequivocal: he climbed onto the roof of his residence and boldly brandished a large Israeli flag, making a clear statement above the dissenting crowd.

The Incident: A Vivid Scene in Braddock

This confrontation took place at Fetterman's unique home in Braddock, Pennsylvania, a town close to Pittsburgh.

The property, a former car dealership turned into a family home, became the stage for this recent political drama.

This is not Fetterman's first encounter with anti-Israel protests.

In November, he caught media attention by casually strolling past protestors at the U.S. Capitol, all while waving a small Israeli flag.

Public Reaction

A significant number of online commenters who identify as Democrats or hold pro-Palestinian views expressed discontent with Fetterman's gesture.

Some criticized Fetterman's actions as inappropriate for a U.S. politician.

One user said, "What an embarrassment to my home state."

Accusations of the senator acting as a "foreign agent" and calls for his removal from office have emerged among the dissenters.

On the other hand, some voices express admiration for the lawmaker's stance, with one commenter stating, "Stop making me like John Fetterman."

Fetterman's Recent Political Moves

Fetterman has been making headlines with several actions and statements that deviate from typical progressive viewpoints.

Earlier this month, he criticized South Africa for accusing Israel of "genocide" in Gaza at an international court.

In December, Fetterman publicly distanced himself from the progressive label, expressing concern over the high number of border crossings and defending those who share such worries as anything but xenophobic. He also suggested that Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez from New Jersey should be expelled from the chamber in the wake of his recent indictment on corruption charges.

In October, Fetterman called out his party members for prematurely blaming Israel for a hospital bombing in Gaza, an event that was later attributed to Hamas.

The same month, he vowed to keep highlighting the plight of Israelis kidnapped by Hamas, promising to continue until their safe return is achieved.

Fetterman also expressed a strong stance against discussing a ceasefire amid the ongoing conflict, insisting on support for Israel's efforts against Hamas, whom he accused of targeting civilians, stating, "We can talk about a ceasefire after Hamas is neutralized."
