Former Trump Physician Disputes FBI Director’s Remarks on Assassination Attempt

 July 27, 2024

Rep. Ronny Jackson criticized FBI Director Christopher Wray for suggesting that former President Donald Trump was struck by shrapnel or glass and not a bullet, during a rally in Pennsylvania.

Jackson, himself a former White House physician, rebuked the FBI chief over remarks regarding the nature of the injury sustained by Trump during a recent assassination attempt.

The incident occurred earlier this month during a rally in Pennsylvania. FBI Director Wray testified before Congress on Wednesday, stating it was unclear what exactly struck Trump’s ear during the attack, mentioning the possibility of shrapnel or a shard of glass.

Jackson, a Republican congressman from Texas, took to social media on Friday to challenge Wray's statements. In an open letter, he insisted that medical records and his own examination confirmed Trump was hit by a bullet.

Assassination Attempt Details

“The would-be assassin fired multiple rounds from a relatively close distance using a high-powered rifle, with one bullet striking the former President, and now the Republican Nominee for President, in his right ear,” Jackson stated.

Jackson emphasized that there was no evidence to suggest anything other than a bullet caused Trump's injury. He urged Congress to correct the record based on confirmations from both the hospital and his personal examination.

Criticism Of FBI Director

In his congressional testimony, Wray hinted at uncertainty regarding what hit Trump during the rally. He mentioned that it could have been shrapnel or glass, rather than a bullet.

Jackson rebuked this testimony, describing it as “wrong and inappropriate.” He insisted that the nature of Trump’s injury was clear and supported by medical evidence.

Trump’s Response and Recovery

Trump, who is recovering from the injury, criticized Wray’s handling of the FBI in a statement released on Thursday. He accused Wray of failing to properly investigate the nature of his injury and focusing instead on political matters.

“FBI Director Christopher Wray told Congress yesterday that he wasn’t sure if I was hit by shrapnel, glass, or a bullet (the FBI never even checked!), but he was sure that Crooked Joe Biden was physically and cognitively ‘uneventful’ – Wrong!” Trump said. Jackson reassured the public about Trump’s condition, stating, “President Trump is doing extremely well. He is rapidly recovering from the gunshot wound to his right ear.”

Further Details of Attack

The assassination attempt resulted in multiple injuries and one fatality. Fifty-year-old Corey Comperatore was killed during the attack, and two others were injured. The attacker reportedly fired multiple rounds from a high-powered rifle.

Jackson’s detailed account of the event highlighted the seriousness of the attack and the close proximity from which the shots were fired.

Calls For Accountability

Jackson called for Congress to correct the record, reinforcing that the medical evidence unequivocally confirmed Trump was hit by a bullet. He stressed the importance of accurate information in such serious matters.

“There is absolutely no evidence that it was anything other than a bullet,” Jackson reiterated. He emphasized the need for Congress to align with the confirmed medical facts.

Public Reassurance and Continued Support

Jackson offered reassurance to the American public and the world regarding Trump’s health. He stated that he would continue to assist Trump and his personal physician as needed.

“I will continue to be available to assist President Trump and his personal physician in any way they see fit and will provide updates as necessary and with the permission of President Trump,” Jackson said.

Trump’s Broader Critique

Trump’s criticism of Wray extended beyond the handling of his injury. He accused Wray of focusing on political issues rather than addressing significant national security concerns.

“That’s why he knows nothing about the terrorists and other criminals pouring into our Country at record levels,” Trump stated. He accused Wray of prioritizing actions against political opponents over critical security matters.

Conclusion

Rep. Ronny Jackson criticized FBI Director Christopher Wray’s suggestion that former President Donald Trump was not hit by a bullet during an assassination attempt.  Jackson emphasized that medical records confirmed Trump was struck by a bullet and called for Congress to correct the record.

Trump, recovering from his injury, also criticized Wray’s handling of the FBI, alleging a focus on political issues over national security.
