GOP Pushing to Protect Election Integrity Amid Immigration Concerns

 October 11, 2024

As the 2024 election draws near, Republican leaders are intensifying their efforts to secure ballots against alleged threats posed by illegal immigration.

Concerns over voter registration fraud and absentee ballot integrity have galvanized GOP legal teams to tighten election security and expose practices involving noncitizens being registered to vote, and Republican officials are collaborating with legal teams and advocacy groups to ensure that election integrity is not compromised by unauthorized voting activities, as Breitbart reports.

Key Republican entities, including the Republican National Committee (RNC), are working to prevent illegal immigration's impact on elections by protecting ballots and supporting GOP candidates.

According to Kyle Brosnan of The Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project, the GOP legal teams are better prepared for election-related legal challenges in 2024 than they were in 2020.

"The Republican National Committee and the legal community of conservatives are better prepared this cycle than they were in 2020," Brosnan noted.

Focus on Battleground States and Legal Battles

Michigan has become a significant focus of the GOP's legal efforts, with Republican lawyers successfully persuading the state's highest court to enforce stringent anti-fraud regulations regarding absentee ballots. In parallel, GOP governors across the nation are undertaking efforts to cleanse voter registration lists, readying their administrations for potential legal challenges post-election.

Data collection and legal resources are being bolstered by Republican officials, preparing for anticipated legal disputes following the upcoming elections. The Oversight Project, spearheaded by Brosnan, emphasizes investigative journalism to unveil electoral issues, striving to provide both policymakers and the public with factual insights to address these concerns.

A recent video released by the Oversight Project demonstrates the potential for voter registration fraud. An undercover journalist, posing as an illegal immigrant in Arizona, was offered voter registration guidance by a Spanish-speaking individual, highlighting loopholes that could be exploited.

Grassroots Conservatives Express Discontent

Among grassroots conservatives, there is notable dissatisfaction regarding the amendment of election rules for the 2020 election. "The grassroots conservative movement is unhappy with how the election rules were changed for 2020," Brosnan explained, expressing the growing concerns among conservatives about election processes.

There is a noticeable shift in the involvement of younger Republicans, who are increasingly engaged with migration and election integrity issues. Brosnan believes this shift signifies a broader recognition that mass migration may be detrimental to the nation’s interests. "You’re seeing a changing of the guard," he remarked, noting a generational awareness within Republican ranks.

Brosnan has expressed concern over the narrative set by the left, which has framed discussions around election integrity in a negative light. He pointed out that any critique of election processes often renders conservative voices labeled as conspiracy theorists. "The left has framed the election integrity discussion," Brosnan commented.

Voter Roll Cleanups and Mail-in Ballot Concerns

The Oversight Project’s investigations have brought to light instances where noncitizens were registered to vote. Recent efforts in Texas and Virginia have resulted in the removal of thousands of noncitizens from voter rolls. Texas has removed 6,500 noncitizens, while Virginia accounts for over 6,300 removals.

Highlighting the narrow margins by which President Biden won pivotal battleground states in 2020, Brosnan emphasized the significance of every vote. "When the margins of these elections are so close, every vote matters," he stated, underscoring the importance of election security.

Brosnan also raised concerns regarding Democratic nonprofit organizations allegedly involved in registering noncitizens to vote, suggesting they may flood elections with fraudulent ballots. Allegations extend to federal and state agencies reportedly assisting these registrations while denying the voting activities.

Challenges of Ballot Handling and Delivery

Brosnan pointed out the high-density living conditions in migrant neighborhoods, which may enable vote harvesting. "It is no secret that the migrant communities tend to live in very dense population areas," he mentioned, drawing attention to the potential challenges in ensuring the integrity of these votes.

According to Brosnan, there are issues with mail-in ballots being sent to uninhabited areas and homeless shelters, where large-scale ballot collection can occur. This, coupled with concerns over what happens to these ballots upon their arrival at voting centers, presents an additional challenge.

"You can sort-of track the addresses," Brosnan remarked, describing the process of identifying suspect voter registrations at non-residential addresses. This insight highlights potential vulnerabilities in the current system that require attention and improvements.

Conclusion: GOP Prepared for Election Challenges

In summary, the GOP’s efforts are firmly centered around tightening election security and addressing potential voter registration issues as the 2024 election looms.

From preparing for legal battles and cleansing voter rolls to investigating potential voter fraud, Republican leaders are mobilizing a comprehensive strategy to safeguard election integrity against the backdrop of ongoing debates over immigration policies.
