Green Party's Jill Stein Criticizes Harris's Support Among Muslim Voters

 October 2, 2024

Green Party candidate Jill Stein has declared that Vice President Kamala Harris is unlikely to win the upcoming November presidential election due to waning support from Muslim and Arab American communities upset with the Democrats' policies on Israel and Gaza.

Stein's involvement in pro-Palestinian protests and her sharp critiques of the Democratic Party will likely shift voter sentiment in pivotal swing states and affect the election outcome, the Daily Mail reported.

Stein's History as a Green Party Candidate

Voters remember Stein, a well-known figure from her previous runs for the presidency, for her 2016 campaign, where many believe she diverted critical votes from Hillary Clinton. Now, she has set her sights on influencing the 2024 election.

Focusing heavily on the Democratic Party's stance on Israel, Stein argues that the community’s support could significantly impact Harris's chances. "The Democrats cannot win without the support of the Muslim American community," she asserted.

According to Stein, Muslims and Arab Americans in swing states will "not come back unless the Democrats decide that it's more important to them to win the election than it is to conduct the genocide," referring to their stance on Gaza.

Polling Data and Community Support

Recent polls indicate that Stein has considerable backing from Muslim voters, particularly in swing states like Wisconsin and Michigan. Reports from the Council on American-Islamic Relations show her leading both Harris and Trump among this demographic.

Stein’s campaign actively engages with these communities. She commented, "It's really been the Muslim Americans and Arab Americans who have really taken this campaign on like it's theirs," highlighting their significant role in her voter outreach efforts.

Despite Stein's low overall polling numbers, her activated base in these critical regions could play a determinative role. Polls show that Harris is tied or losing to Trump in key states such as Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.

Calls for Impeachment and Protests

In addition to her campaign efforts, Stein has vocally stated her stance on foreign policy, calling for the impeachment of Secretary of State Antony Blinken. She accused Blinken of deceiving Congress about Israel's actions in Gaza, stating, "This was a lie on his part in order to continue this war, which is now very dangerously expanding."

Stein's activism extends beyond rhetoric. In April, law enforcement arrested her during a pro-Palestinian demonstration at Washington University in St. Louis, following an attack on October 7 by Hamas. She captured her defiance and the response from law enforcement in a video she posted online.

Describing the scene, Stein said, "Police are gathered here," while she revealed officers stationed at the protest site. Law enforcement also detained her campaign manager and deputy manager during the protest.

Arrest During University Protests

The arrest at Washington University wasn't isolated. Stein attended subsequent protests at Columbia University, where she criticized the institution’s financial involvement through investments in Microsoft, linking it to the conflict in Gaza.

Stein shared, "We're standing here with the students at WashU standing up for our constitutional rights." She aimed her video at spotlighting the gravity of her protests against what she sees as genocidal policies.

Law enforcement detained Stein and others on the scene after a confrontation. Her campaign's social media described her attempts to "deescalate with police before they began arresting people."

Allegations of Collusion with Republicans

Amid these actions, Democrats accuse Stein of working with Republican operatives to get on the ballot in swing states, potentially aiding Donald Trump's efforts. DNC's Adrienne Watson remarked, "Jill Stein is a spoiler for Trump who is working hand in hand with Republican consultants and Trump's former personal lawyer."

This contentious claim adds another layer to the turbulent dynamics of Stein’s 2024 campaign. However, Stein's political strategy relies heavily on her robust following among Muslim and Arab American communities to sway the electoral balance.

Stein remains undeterred by the criticism or the obstacles, emphasizing her mission to highlight and address what she views as grave injustices. Her active protests and calls for policy changes continue to serve as a central tenet of her campaign.

Electoral Implications and Future Prospects

As the November election approaches, observers cannot underestimate Stein's influence, although most polls measure it in single digits. Her persistent presence in swing states and her direct challenge to Democratic foreign policy might tip the scales in what promises to be a tightly contested race.

The DailyMail.com electoral model currently favors a Trump victory, factoring in Stein's potential to draw votes away from Harris. The outcome could mirror her controversial role in the 2016 election.

In her pursuit of change, Jill Stein reiterates her belief that Democrats must make significant policy reversals to reclaim lost Muslim American support. However, she maintains a skeptical outlook on any forthcoming changes, signaling continued electoral maneuvering ahead.
