Harris Blamed for Role in Afghanistan Withdrawal: ‘Blood on Her Hands’

 August 10, 2024

Vice President Kamala Harris is facing sharp criticism for her involvement in the chaotic withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan, with key figures accusing her of contributing to the disastrous outcome.

Chad Robichaux, Mark Geist, and Rep. Cory Mills have all publicly condemned Harris, asserting that her actions, or lack thereof, during the Biden White House's botched Afghanistan withdrawal have left her complicit in its failures, as the Washington Examiner reports.

The controversial withdrawal has been described as a disaster, leaving many Americans and allies stranded in Afghanistan, with critics pointing to Harris’s involvement as a key factor in the operation’s failure.

Robichaux, a former Force Recon Marine and author, spearheaded a significant rescue operation following the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan. Robichaux’s efforts led to the extraction of over 17,000 people from the war-torn country, a mission he undertook largely due to the perceived inadequacies of the U.S. government's response.

Robichaux Highlights Harris’s Role in Withdrawal

The former soldier has not minced words in his criticism of Harris, pointing to her role as the "last person in the room" with President Biden before the final decision on the withdrawal was made. According to Robichaux, Harris’s proximity to the decision-making process makes her a central figure in the ensuing disaster.

"Kamala can’t detach herself from the catastrophic Afghanistan withdrawal,” Robichaux stated. He emphasized that Harris, as Vice President, had ample opportunity to intervene or speak up on behalf of those left behind. He further accused her of being complicit in the abandonment of allies and American citizens.

Benghazi Contractor Joins in Criticism

Mark Geist, a Benghazi contractor known for rescuing over 100 Americans during the Afghan withdrawal, has echoed Robichaux’s sentiments. Geist’s involvement in the rescue operations highlights the extent to which private citizens felt compelled to step in where they believe the government failed.

"The botched Afghan withdrawal isn’t a failure that can be overlooked or forgotten," Geist remarked. He stressed that the responsibility for the tragedy, including the loss of 13 lives at Abbey Gate, extends beyond President Biden to include Vice President Harris. Geist accused Harris of displaying poor judgment and failed leadership, which he argues have placed both the country and its military at risk.

Congressman Mills Accuses Harris of Failed Leadership

Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) has also voiced strong criticism of Harris, particularly her attempts to distance herself from the Afghan withdrawal debacle. Mills accused Harris of having "blood on her hands," asserting that her leadership record shows a pattern of failure, not only in Afghanistan but across other key areas of policy as well.

Mills pointed out that Harris has shown no proven strength on the world stage and has failed in her responsibilities at the U.S. border, leading him to question her ability to protect American interests and service members. He linked Harris’s involvement in the Afghan pullout to a broader trend of abandonment by the current administration.

Washington Post Report Adds to Criticism

Adding to the chorus of criticism, a report from the Washington Post revealed that while Harris did ask some probing questions during the decision-making process, she ultimately did not take meaningful action to alter the withdrawal plan. This has led to further scrutiny of her role and the extent to which she should be held accountable for the withdrawal’s disastrous consequences.

Robichaux, Geist, and Mills have all emphasized that the withdrawal represents not just a policy failure but a moral one as well. They argue that Harris, in her capacity as vice president, bears significant responsibility for the outcome.

Conclusion: The Call for Accountability

The criticism leveled at Vice President Harris over the Afghanistan withdrawal reflects broader concerns about the administration’s handling of international crises. The accusations from Robichaux, Geist, and Mills underscore the belief among some that Harris’s involvement in the withdrawal directly contributed to its failure, leaving her with "blood on her hands."

As the debate over the Afghanistan withdrawal continues, the calls for accountability remain strong, with Harris’s critics insisting that her actions -- or inaction -- during this pivotal moment in American foreign policy cannot be overlooked.
