Biden Reportedly Pointing Fingers Over Harris' Electoral Loss

 November 8, 2024

The Democratic Party is grappling with internal conflict as leaders blame each other for Vice President Kamala Harris’ defeat in the recent election.

Following Harris' concession at Howard University, President Joe Biden expressed his thoughts on the election's outcome and the ensuing challenges for the Democratic Party, and though his reaction highlighted his deep admiration for Harris and praised her integrity and service to the nation, insiders suggest that he has not shied away from placing blame for the loss, as the Daily Mail reports.

Sources with knowledge of the situation claim that Biden was discouraged from running this election cycle by key figures within the party, notably former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

This mirrors a situation Biden faced in 2016 when he was reportedly dissuaded from running by then-President Barack Obama, further complicating party dynamics.

The Blame Game Within Democratic Ranks

Blame for the electoral defeat has fallen on several party leaders, with Pelosi at the forefront. Confidantes of Biden allege that Pelosi’s influence in sidelining him had a detrimental impact on the Democrats’ overall campaign strategy.

Amid these accusations, it's argued that Biden could have captured the white working-class vote -- a demographic that predominantly supported Donald Trump. These assertions underscore the perceived missteps in the Democratic campaign’s approach to this election.

Further complicating the party's unity are criticisms directed at vice-presidential pick, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, whose left-leaning policies and association with the George Floyd riots were deemed too radical by some party members, suggesting these factors contributed to the party’s poor performance in key areas.

Electoral Demographics Shift

Analysts have observed shifts in voting patterns that influenced the election outcome. Notably, there was a decline in support among white women for the Democrats, while black male support for Trump increased compared to the 2020 election. Additionally, a significant number of Hispanic voters moved away from the Democratic Party.

Media analysts criticized Biden’s timing in the electoral race, suggesting he should have stepped down sooner to bolster Harris' campaign or to pave the way for another candidate through an open primary.

These demographic and strategic miscalculations have led to a reevaluation of the Democratic Party’s approach and an acknowledgment of the need for internal assessment and possible reformation.

Biden and Trump Commit to Peaceful Transition

In the aftermath of the election, President Biden called for a peaceful transition of power.

He acknowledged Trump’s victory and extended an invitation to the White House, marking a commitment to national unity despite their historically contentious relationship.

Trump’s spokesperson, Steven Cheung, confirmed the constructive nature of the conversation between Biden and Trump, noting President Trump’s appreciation for the call and his anticipation of the upcoming meeting.

Biden confirmed his intention to attend Trump's inauguration, emphasizing the importance of continuity and respect for the presidential office, despite Trump’s absence from his own inauguration in 2020.

Harris’ Professional Appeal in Concession

In her concession call, Kamala Harris did not shy away from reminding President Trump about the need to maintain professionalism. This discussion was acknowledged by Trump’s team, who noted Harris' tenacity and commitment to civil discourse.

Biden reflected on his decision to select Harris as his running mate in 2020, describing it as the best decision for representing America's diverse narrative.

He expressed confidence in Harris’ continued leadership and role model status for future generations.

"What America saw today was the Kamala Harris I know and deeply admire. She's been a tremendous partner and public servant full of integrity, courage, and character," said Biden, capturing the sentiment of his administration's legacy and its hopes for Harris' future endeavors.
