Hunter Biden associate received $3M from Chinese energy company before paying Biden family

As the Republican-led House Oversight Committee continues its far-reaching probe into the business dealings of the Biden family, panel chairman Rep. James Comer (KY-01) came forth this week to reveal that a Chinese energy firm sent $3 million via wire transfer to a company controlled by an unnamed Biden associate, as the Daily Mail reports.

According to Comer, now that the Treasury Department has agreed to provide suspicious activity reports (SARs) and other documentation linked to President Joe Biden and his family, he is prepared to “follow the money trail” to determine whether the commander in chief is compromised and national security is at risk.

Pressure on Treasury yields document trove

The latest revelation comes as Comer indicated that he had finally made progress in his ongoing attempts to secure the aforementioned documentation from Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, whom he accused earlier this month of stonewalling the probe.

“Biden's Treasury Department continues to make excuses for its failure to provide the suspicious activity reports that are critical to our investigation of the Biden family's business schemes,” Comer said, according to the Washington Examiner.

Soon after, Comer hinted that the Treasury Department's decision to drag its feet on the document requests “unintentionally helped,” telling Fox News' Maria Bartiromo, “In a way, I'm kind of glad that the Biden attorney, Abbe Lowell, and [the] Biden administration has been stonewalling us. Because when I requested that information two weeks ago versus today, because of what we have in hand now, we have a lot stronger case in court for why we need these documents that the Biden family's withholding and the government's withholding.”

Those remarks may have persuaded Treasury officials to comply with Comer's ask, given that just this week, the Oversight chair indicated that the department had finally agreed to provide suspicious activity reports related to first son Hunter Biden, as the Examiner reported separately. In addition, Comer told Fox News that other individuals – or their attorneys – have been working with the committee and providing information.

Comer reveals $3 million payment

With his battle with the Treasury Department apparently reaching resolution, Comer revealed the existence of the aforementioned $3 million payment to a Biden associate-controlled entity.

As the Mail notes, the payment came through soon after Joe Biden's tenure as Barack Obama's vice president came to an end, and it was made to a company headed by a man named John “Rob” Walker.

Describing his findings, Comer said, “According to bank documents we've already obtained, we know one company owned by a Biden associate received a $3 million wire from a Chinese energy company two months after Joe Biden left the vice presidency.”

“Soon after, hundreds of thousands of dollars in payouts went to members of the Biden family,” Comer added.

“We've got a problem here”

In yet another twist in the saga of Comer's probe, the Oversight chair also revealed this week that the involvement of another member of the Biden family has emerged in connection to possibly questionable foreign business dealings, and that the national security implications could be significant, as Fox News reports.

Referencing the $3 million wire payout received by the Biden-affiliated enterprise, Comer told America's Newsroom, “There were three different Biden family members that received a cut...including a new Biden family member that's never been included in any of these investigations.”

“So, our question is: What exactly did they do to receive that money? What was the purpose of the $3 million wire?” Comer asked.

The congressman hinted that this particular revelation could be the tip of a large iceberg, adding, “Now, that's just the first wire that we've actually been able to obtain bank records. There are many, many more.”

Identity under wraps

Though Comer's tone was one of confidence regarding recently uncovered evidence, he did not reveal specifics of the latest revelations to which he referred.

“I'm not going to disclose that new name because that really changes things because what we assumed was this was just about the president's son and two brothers, but now there's a new name that emerged,” Comer said.

The congressman continued, “So, we've got a problem there with respect to trying to determine what exactly this family was doing to receive these transactions with China. This is important, and I think every American should be concerned about this issue of national security.”

Underscoring his particular concern regarding the Bidens receiving vast sums of money from foreign interests, Comer added, “What they've said in the media is, 'Oh, this was for business.' We can't identify any business. It appears it went into their personal account, so if China is investing with the Bidens in a business, we can't find any business. They don't manufacture anything. They don't sell anything. They don't own any real estate,” implying that political influence may have been the first family's stock-in-trade.
