Hunter Biden Ends Lawsuit Against Giuliani

 June 15, 2024

Hunter Biden has decided to drop his lawsuit against Rudy Giuliani and former lawyer Robert Costello, who were accused of manipulating data from Biden's abandoned laptop.

The abandonment of the litigation by the first son follows his recent conviction on unrelated gun charges, which was linked to evidence from the laptop, which prosecutors authenticated at trial, as the New York Post reports.

Biden's lawyer, Abbe Lowell, filed the stipulation for dismissal on Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Attorneys for all three parties agreed to the stipulation. The lawsuit claimed Giuliani and Costello violated the federal Computer Fraud and Abuse Act by allegedly hacking and manipulating data on Biden's abandoned laptop. The lawsuit, filed in September, sought more than $75,000 in damages plus attorneys’ fees and other penalties.

Judge Must Still Approve Dismissal

U.S. District Judge Jessica Clarke must approve the motion to dismiss the suit before it is finalized. The filing of the stipulation comes after Hunter Biden's recent legal troubles. Biden, 54, was convicted of three felony counts on Tuesday for lying about his drug use when purchasing a gun in October 2018.

Evidence from the laptop, which Biden left at a Wilmington, Delaware, computer repair store in April 2019, was used by the government to prove he was addicted to crack cocaine when he purchased the firearm.

John Paul Mac Isaac, the computer repair shop owner, turned Biden's hard drive over to the FBI after finding evidence of illegal activity. Additionally, Mac Isaac made a copy of the hard drive and gave it to Costello in August 2020.

Data Shared with Media Outlets

Giuliani, Costello's client, provided the Post with a copy of the hard drive in October 2020, leading to stories about the Biden family's business interests. The motion for dismissal follows Hunter Biden's conviction based on evidence obtained from the laptop.

Joe Sibley, Giuliani’s attorney, expressed satisfaction with the dismissal, calling it a vindication for his clients.

“This dismissal – along with Hunter Biden’s conviction based on evidence taken from the laptop – is a vindication for Mr. Giuliani and Mr. Costello as well as all of the media outlets who broke the laptop story in 2020 and suffered orchestrated censorship,” he said.

“They know they have problems on the merits,” Sibley added, commenting on Biden’s legal team agreeing to dismiss the lawsuit. Ted Goodman, spokesperson for Giuliani, echoed these sentiments in his statement.

Giuliani's Spokesperson's Confirmation

“Mayor Rudy Giuliani has again proven himself to be telling the truth, while those going after him and President Donald Trump have been proven to be liars. All of the false charges that Hunter Biden made against Mayor Rudy Giuliani, his lawyer Bob Costello and others, have been withdrawn and proven to be entirely false,” Goodman said.

He also stated that this should serve as a reminder of Giuliani’s integrity and commitment to the truth. “Mayor Giuliani was right about the Russian collusion hoax, he was right about the Ukrainian quid-pro-quo hoax, and he’s right about Hunter Biden’s laptop,” Goodman continued.

“This dismissal is yet another reason why Joe Biden’s FBI -- after raiding the mayor’s house and law office, and after conducting a multi-year investigation -- reported that they found no evidence of any criminal activity whatsoever,” Goodman added.

Conclusion

Hunter Biden has significantly shifted his global legal strategy by dropping his lawsuit against Rudy Giuliani and Robert Costello.

The dismissal of the lawsuit, which accused them of hacking and manipulating data on Biden’s abandoned laptop, comes on the heels of Biden’s recent gun-related conviction.

Giuliani and Costello's camp considers this a vindication, crediting the integrity and truthfulness of their actions.

As the U.S. District Judge Jessica Clarke is yet to finalize the dismissal, this development continues to unfold in a highly publicized legal battle with far-reaching implications.
