Chaos struck New Orleans on New Year's Day when a former US Army veteran, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, carried out a devastating terrorist attack.

Jabbar's assault on Bourbon Street claimed 14 lives and left 35 others injured, setting a grim tone for the beginning of the new year, The US Sun reported.
