Vance Criticizes Media for Ignoring Testimony of 'Angel Mom' in Border Crisis Hearing

 September 15, 2024

Republican VP Candidate JD Vance expressed outrage at the media's omission of an "Angel Mom's" recent testimony during a House Judiciary panel hearing.

The committee convened on Tuesday to scrutinize the Biden-Harris administration’s policies on the border, which have been linked to a surge in crimes such as abduction and murder of U.S. citizens, and though the hearing spotlighted the plight of American families who have suffered due to these policies, Vance believes the personal accounts were treated in a disrespectful and dismissive fashion by some lawmakers and the media, as Fox News reports.

During the hearing, the tragic story of Jocelyn Nungaray, a 12-year-old girl murdered in Texas, was brought to the forefront.

Despite the severity of the incident, major news outlets such as CNN, MSNBC, and the New York Times chose not to cover the testimony, raising concerns about media bias.

Detailed Account of a Tragic Loss

Jocelyn was found strangled in a Houston creek on June 17, presenting a harrowing scene.

The details of her condition were disturbing, with reports that she was partially undressed and bound.

Two individuals, identified as Venezuelan nationals Johan Jose Martinez-Rangel and Franklin Jose Peña Ramos, face charges of capital murder in connection with her death.

They were reportedly part of the Alternatives to Detention program and had entered the U.S. illegally earlier that year.

The lack of coverage of such a critical issue sparked outrage from JD Vance, who accused the media of ignoring the severe consequences of the Biden-Harris administration's border policies.

The Role of House Judiciary Committee

The committee's chair, Jim Jordan, emphasized that the hearing was meant to showcase the broader impacts of unchecked immigration, including the strain on U.S. educational and healthcare systems.

Jordan also highlighted the influx of individuals under the current administration, citing security concerns with the presence of individuals on the terrorist watch list entering the country.

This influx, according to Jordan, is a direct result of the administration's lenient policies at the border.

Personal Stories Highlight the Human Cost

Amid the statistics and policy discussions, the hearing gave a voice to those who suffered personal losses. Alexis Nungaray, Jocelyn's mother, shared a heart-wrenching testimony about the last moments of her daughter's life.

"She was strangled to death. Her hands and her ankles were tied and thrown under the bridge of water like she was nothing but garbage," recounted Alexis, visibly moved by the memory of her daughter's tragic end.

Alexis criticized the open border policies of the Biden-Harris administration, linking them directly to her daughter’s untimely death.

Vance's Outcry Against Media Silence

Vance took the opportunity to condemn the media for their selective reporting. "Kamala Harris' open border policies have taken countless American lives.

"The liberal media is doing all they can to cover it up," he stated.

According to Vance, the omission of such significant testimonies from mainstream media coverage is an injustice to the victims and their families, as well as to the public who remain uninformed about the real-life impacts of policy decisions.

The outcry from Vance reflects a growing frustration among certain political figures and communities regarding the national discourse on immigration and its associated coverage in the media.
