Billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is reportedly engaged to marry his girlfriend of five years, Lauren Sanchez, according to a source close to the pair who spoke to Page Six.

The news comes as the high-flying duo have been enjoying time in the south of France aboard Bezos' massive yacht, attending the Cannes Film Festival, and showing off Sanchez' show-stopping diamond ring.

Bezos, Sanchez to Wed

An item since 2018, Bezos and Sanchez have never been shy about putting their relationship in the spotlight, frequently photographed living a jet-set lifestyle while also attending to their business and philanthropic endeavors.

Such was definitely the case as news of their pending nuptials broke this week, with the two seen sailing the Mediterranean and informing everyone in their orbit of their happiness.

As Page Six noted separately, an onlooker was quoted as saying, “They were all over each other. I mean, they're always affectionate, but they could not keep their hands off ech other.”

A different source, who saw the couple at a party in Cannes, observed, “They were telling everyone they were engaged; they were so excited, they are completely in love.”

Controversial Start

Though now firmly on the path to wedded bliss, Bezos and Sanchez first connected while both were married to other people.

Bezos, for his part, was married to writer MacKenzie Scott for 25 years, and together they had four children before divorcing in 2019.

Sanchez, whose television career includes stints as a host of Good Day LA and a correspondent for Extra, and who also launched aerial filming company Black Ops Aviation, was most recently married to influential Hollywood agent Patrick Whitesell, with whom she shares two children.

The new bride-to-be also has a 22-year-old son, Nikko, whose father is former professional football player Tony Gonzalez, as Page Six notes.

Devoted Pair

In addition to the reportedly 20-carat diamond Bezos placed on Sanchez' finger, the Amazon, Washington Post, and Blue Origin mogul has also expressed his adoration for his intended by way of an elaborate mermaid figure on the bow of his yacht, rendered in her image.

The mermaid wears a necklace that includes the symbol for Koru, a Maori word for loop, which is also the name of Bezos' megaship.

According to People, the symbol holds special meaning for the couple, in that it refers to new beginnings, positive change, and personal growth.

On January 1 of what is proving to be a momentous year in his life, Bezos reportedly posted a photo of Koru on social media accompanied by a prophetic caption that read, “The new year is also a great time to take stock and focus on personal growth, renewal, rebirth, and paying careful attention to each moment of your life.”

Mutual Admiration Society

Sanchez, for her part, has also paid loving tribute to her soon-to-be husband in very public ways, telling the Wall Street Journal Magazine earlier this year, as Page Six further notes, that Bezos is “so happy, he inspires me every day, he makes me a better person every day; he's the most loving human I know.”

In a social media post commemorating Bezos' January birthday, Sanchez wrote, “Happy birthday to the man of my dreams, who lights up my world with his laughter and kind heart.”

“You have shown me that no great love is not bravely fought for. Thank you for always being by my side and for being the most loving and supportive partner,” Sanchez added.

Considering the splashy manner in which their engagement became public knowledge, a source close to the pair suspects that their wedding day will be anything but modest. “I can't imagine it will be quiet –I think it will be a Who's Who of people,” the insider opined, but precisely how over-the-top the celebration will get, remains to be seen.
