Early Sunday morning, Senator John Fetterman was identified as the driver responsible for a rear-end accident that injured himself and others, Daily Mail reported.

The incident unfolded on westbound Interstate 70 near the junction with Interstate 68. According to Maryland State Police, the collision involved Fetterman's Chevrolet Traverse and a Chevrolet Impala. The accident occurred just before 8 a.m.

"According to a preliminary investigation, a Chevrolet Traverse and a Chevrolet Impala were both traveling west on I-70 when, for unknown reasons, the Traverse struck the rear of the Impala," a spokesperson for the Maryland State Police told

Following the crash, emergency services transported Senator Fetterman and a passenger from his vehicle, along with the operator of the Impala, to War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.

"A passenger in the Traverse and the operator of the Impala were transported by ambulance to War Memorial Hospital in West Virginia for treatment of their injuries," the spokesperson disclosed.

Senator Fetterman was treated for a bruised shoulder but was discharged the same afternoon, affirming the minor nature of his physical injuries. However, the investigation into the collision remains active and ongoing, with authorities yet to determine the precise cause of the rear-end impact.

"On Sunday morning, John and Gisele were involved in a car accident with another driver. Out of extreme caution, they were evaluated at a local hospital. John was treated for a bruised shoulder, and they were discharged that afternoon," a spokesperson for Fetterman's office confirmed.

Fetterman and Wife Grateful to Be Home

Following the accident, John and Gisele Fetterman were described as "doing well" and feeling "happy" to return to their home in Braddock, Pennsylvania.

The community and supporters have expressed relief and ongoing support as the couple recovers from the ordeal.

The implications of the crash for Senator Fetterman's health are of particular concern, given his recent medical history. The incident brings attention to his personal health and broader safety issues on the highway.
