Johnson Accuses Harris of Facilitating Illegal Immigrant Voting

 July 27, 2024

House Speaker Mike Johnson accused Vice President Kamala Harris of facilitating illegal voting during his recent visit to the U.S.-Mexico border.

Johnson urged Congress to pass an election integrity bill to prevent noncitizens from voting in U.S. elections and blasted Harris for what he said was her involvement in facilitating the problem, as the Washington Examiner reports.

The visit at issue took place at the San Ysidro Port of Entry in Southern California. Johnson was accompanied by Rep. Darrell Issa.

During the visit, Johnson did not hold back his criticism of the current administration’s handling of border security.

Johnson Describes Border Issues

Johnson described San Diego as "the epicenter of the Biden-Harris border catastrophe." He stated that about 16 million illegal immigrants have entered the U.S. during the Biden-Harris administration.

He expressed concern that these illegal immigrants could vote in the 2024 presidential election.

Johnson criticized what he described as "the border czar and San Francisco-radical Kamala Harris," holding her responsible for the current situation. He accused Harris of failing to prevent illegal immigrants from voting and emphasized the potential consequences of this issue.

Concerns About Voting Laws

Johnson pointed out that voter registration laws dating back to the 1990s could allow illegal immigrants to vote. He highlighted instances where individuals signing up for public benefits are also given voter registration forms. He described the lack of required proof for voting as "outrageous."

"If someone goes to the local office to sign up for public benefits, they’re also handed a short form that says, 'Do you want to register to vote?'" Johnson said. He asserted that it is unacceptable that there’s no proof required to vote, which he believes could influence election outcomes.

Johnson stressed that "only Americans should decide American elections," and he voiced his support for the SAVE Act. Passed by the House earlier in the month, the act mandates proof of ID to vote. Johnson criticized Kamala Harris and 198 House Democrats for opposing this legislation.

Promoting the SAVE Act

Johnson called for congressional action to pass an election integrity bill aimed at preventing illegal immigrants from voting. He promoted the SAVE Act as essential for maintaining the integrity of U.S. elections.

The law requires proof of ID to vote to ensure that only eligible voters participate in the electoral process.

In his remarks, Johnson underscored that the consequences of illegal voting could be significant.

“If just a fraction of illegal immigrants vote, they could flip critical congressional seats and even change the outcome of the 2024 presidential election,” he warned.

California's Voter Registration Laws

California law requires that voters be U.S. citizens and residents of California. To register to vote, individuals must provide a driver’s license, state ID, the last four digits of their Social Security number, and birth date verification.

Despite these requirements, Johnson remains concerned about the sufficiency of enforcement of these laws. He indicated that current processes might be insufficient to prevent illegal voting. He argued that more stringent measures, such as the SAVE Act, are essential to address these concerns.

In summary, House Speaker Mike Johnson’s visit to the San Ysidro Port of Entry was marked by strong criticism of Vice President Kamala Harris and her handling of border security and election integrity. Johnson called for immediate legislative action to prevent illegal immigrants from impacting U.S. elections. By emphasizing the importance of the SAVE Act, he aimed to ensure that only eligible citizens could vote.

In his concluding remarks, Johnson stressed that Harris' approach to border security could have far-reaching implications. He reiterated his belief that failing to address illegal voting could jeopardize the integrity of future elections.
