Kamala Harris says she is 'scared' about 2024 presidential election

 January 18, 2024

Vice President Kamala Harris, in a Wednesday interview, expressed her apprehensions regarding the possibility of Donald Trump securing the presidency in the 2024 election.

During a discussion on ABC's The View, co-host Joy Behar inquired about Harris's thoughts on the upcoming contest, highlighting former President Obama and Michelle Obama's recently expressed similar concerns.

Harris candidly admitted, "I am scared as heck," as reported by Fox News.

She continued, "There is an old saying that there are only two ways to run for office, either without an opponent or scared. So, on all of those points, yes, we should all be scared."

"But as we know, and certainly, this is a table of very powerful women, we don't run away from something when we're scared. We fight back against it," the vice president added.

Biden-Harris Administration's Re-election Strategy

Continuing the conversation, Harris underscored her belief in theimportance of the Biden administration securing re-election. She stressed the need to communicate their achievements to the public effectively.

"We have to earn the re-elect, and we have to communicate what we have achieved," Harris stated, acknowledging the challenge ahead in making voters aware of their accomplishments.

Addressing Biden's Approval Ratings and Trump's Legal Troubles

In response to a question from co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin regarding President Biden's low approval ratings and Trump's slight lead in the polls despite facing multiple felony charges, Harris provided her perspective on the upcoming election.

She portrayed it as a decisive moment for American democracy, highlighting the stark contrast between competence and chaos.

Meanwhile, an ABC News poll revealed a significant dip in Biden's approval ratings, reaching a 15-year low for a U.S. president,

Biden's approval rating currently stands at a mere 31%, as per a national survey conducted for ABC by Langer Research Associates, with fieldwork conducted by Ipsos Public Affairs using its online, probability-based KnowledgePanel.

The poll also reveals that 58% of respondents disapprove of President Biden's performance.

The result placed his approval rating lower than even former President Trump's lowest rating in office, which came in at 36%, as reported by ABC News.

Confidence in the Face of Competition

Despite these challenges, Harris expressed confidence in the Democratic Party's chances in the upcoming elections.

In an interview with ABC News, she asserted their readiness to face any Republican candidate, including Trump.

"No matter who the Republican nominee is, we're winning. We're winning," Harris declared.

She added, "If it is Donald Trump, we beat him before, and we'll beat him again."
