Lara Trump Eager to Pursue Senate Role Amid Marco Rubio's Cabinet Nod

 November 15, 2024

Lara Trump, daughter-in-law to President-elect Donald Trump, has publicly shown interest in taking over the U.S. Senate seat soon to be vacated by Marco Rubio, who was recently nominated to become secretary of State.

Consideration of Lara Trump for the Senate seat coincides with significant administration nominations by President Trump aimed at reinforcing the America First agenda, as the Daily Mail reports.

Marco Rubio, the current senator from Florida, has been nominated by President Trump to lead the U.S. Department of State.

This significant political move opened up a Senate seat that has garnered considerable attention within the Republican Party.

Lara Trump, a Florida resident for the past three years, expressed her intent and readiness to serve Florida during a recent interview on Fox News with Sean Hannity.

Her commitment comes amid her active role in national politics, having served as the co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC) during the lead-up to the recent election.

Under her leadership, the RNC saw significant victories, maintaining Senate control and achieving a narrow majority in the House while also winning the presidency.

Lara Trump's Vision for Florida and Political Impact

During her tenure at the RNC, Lara Trump was instrumental in navigating what she referred to as one of the most historic elections. Her efforts were pivotal in the party's success, which she highlighted as a period of honor and achievement.

"I was truly so honored to be the cochair of the RNC through really the most historic election, I think, of any of our lifetimes," Lara Trump stated, emphasizing her deep involvement and dedication to her political role.

With a strong desire to continue her public service, she remarked on the possibility of serving Florida, "Likewise, if I am able to serve, I would love to serve the people of Florida. This is my home state now and has been for three years. This is where Eric and I live, and truly to have that opportunity, I think would be incredible," she added.

Additional Political Nominations and Strategic Moves

The political landscape has been further shaped by other notable nominations by Donald Trump.

Matt Gaetz, despite having been the subject of a House ethics inquiry, has been nominated for the role of attorney general. Pete Hegseth and Tulsi Gabbard have also been selected for key positions within the Pentagon and as Director of National Intelligence, respectively.

These appointments, along with Rubio’s, signify a clear strategy to fortify the administration's America First agenda.

Rubio himself has pledged to faithfully implement President Trump’s foreign policy goals, stating, "Leading the U.S. Department of State is a tremendous responsibility, and I am honored by the trust President Trump has placed in me. I will work every day to carry out his foreign policy agenda."

The decision of who will fill Rubio's Senate seat lies with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has several options, including appointing a caretaker lawmaker, choosing a potential candidate who wishes to maintain the seat, or potentially appointing himself following the conclusion of his presidential campaign.

Community and Political Support for Lara Trump

Advocacy for Lara Trump's Senate candidacy is strong among Trump loyalists. Sen. Rick Scott, a key figure in Florida politics, has voiced his support on social media, urging followers to rally behind Lara Trump's potential nomination. "@LaraLeaTrump needs to be the nominated replacement by @GovDestantis for Rubio. She will keep the seat and avoid a messy primary for FLORIDA. Well spoken. Kicked butt on election integrity. Etc," tweeted Anna Paulina Luna, reflecting the sentiments of many within the party.

"RT if you think @LaraLeaTrump should be Florida’s next Senator!" Scott tweeted, highlighting the widespread support within the party for Lara Trump's candidacy.

The appointment by DeSantis is anticipated with great interest, as it will not only fill a critical seat but also potentially set the stage for the upcoming special election in 2026, shaping Florida's political future.
