Mark Cuban Surveys Followers on Presidential Role Model Preferences

 September 2, 2024

In a striking display of public opinion, a recent poll reveals Donald Trump as the preferred presidential role model for children.

Trump emerged as the clear favorite in a social media poll conducted by entrepreneur and business mogul Mark Cuban, securing 68.9% of the votes against Kamala Harris, as the New York Post reports.

On Friday night, Cuban, the minority owner of the Dallas Mavericks, took to the social media platform X to engage his followers in a provocative poll.

The question posed was straightforward yet potent: "Who’s persona and character would you like to see young children grow up to have?" providing only two options, Donald Trump or Kamala Harris.

Cuban's Question Sparks Intense Debate

The poll closed with Trump receiving a decisive 68.9% of the total 804,173 votes, while Kamala Harris garnered 31.1%.

This outcome sparked a flurry of responses from political commentators and influencers across the spectrum.

Valentina Gomez, a former Republican candidate for Missouri secretary of state, was among those who commented.

She criticized Harris directly in the replies, aligning with the majority sentiment of the poll’s respondents.

Mark Cuban's Shifting Political Stance

Interestingly, Cuban has not always been consistent regarding his take on Donald Trump.

In an interview on Aug.7, Cuban reflected on his initial impressions from 2015, stating, "In 2015, I was like, ‘He’s great. He’s not a typical Stepford candidate. I thought that was a positive." He admitted his support stemmed from a desire to disrupt traditional politics, which he disdained.

"A big part of that is I didn’t think he had a chance. I just wanted to kind of screw things up in traditional politics, which I’m not a fan of," Cuban explained further, revealing a nuanced take on his political motivations at the time.

Cuban’s Political Evolution and Current Views

Despite his initial fascination with Trump's candidness, Cuban’s views have evolved. He has since shown support for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in their respective campaigns.

His change of heart is evident in his recent defenses of Harris' economic policies on social media.

On Aug. 16, Cuban took to X to defend Harris’ economic agenda, highlighting his support for her policy initiatives. This was a marked shift from his earlier political engagements.

Accusations of Policy Imitation

Further complicating the political narrative, on Aug. 24, Cuban accused Donald Trump of imitating Harris’ policies related to women's reproductive rights.

"And now he is copying @KamalaHQ policies. What’s going on here?" Cuban questioned, bringing attention to the shifting dynamics in political positioning.

This recent poll and Cuban’s ongoing commentary reflect a complex interplay of personal beliefs, political alliances, and public opinion.

Cuban’s initial support for Trump, characterized by a desire to see a non-traditional politician succeed, has visibly shifted towards a more critical and supportive stance towards Democratic candidates, particularly in defending Kamala Harris against criticisms and accusations of policy plagiarism.
