Melania Trump Describes Husband, Recalls First Date in New Interview

 September 27, 2024

In a revealing interview with Fox News, Melania Trump recently discussed her personal life and views on her husband's political ambitions.

Mrs. Trump shared stories from her first date with her now-husband to her time in the White House during the exclusive sit-down with Ainsley Earhardt, as the Daily Mail reports.

During Fashion Week in 1998, at the Kit Kat Club in New York City, Melania Trump first met Donald Trump. Originally from Slovenia, Melania had moved to the U.S. two years prior and was working as a model.

The connection she felt with Trump was instantaneous, marked by a mutual appreciation for each other's vision and personality.

Their first date was a private affair, with Donald taking Melania to see a property in Bedford, New Jersey. They spent the drive discussing their lives, ambitions, and the tranquility that came from being together away from the public eye.

Melania fondly recalled, "It was nice because we were two of us alone in the car for hour, hour and a half. No other noise, no other people because, at that time, he was already known as a celebrity. So, it was really nice to be just the two of us."

The Proposal at the Met Gala

In 2004, Trump proposed to Melania during her birthday celebration at the Met Gala, presenting her with a 15-carat diamond ring valued at $1.5 million. Their marriage symbolized not just a romantic union but also a partnership grounded in deep mutual respect and shared ambitions.

Reflecting on the early discussions about Donald's political inclinations, Melania mentioned, "No. We didn't discuss at that time, no. But soon later, yes? Soon later. Not that he would be the president, but he always was involved in politics. He was very in tune with what is going on in the world, especially this country."

Years later, these discussions would see Donald Trump rise to the presidency, with Melania by his side adapting from fashion to the rigorous demands of political life.

Life in the White House

Melania Trump found her modeling career to be excellent preparation for the scrutiny and challenges of being the first lady. The fashion industry, known for its glamor but also its toughness, helped her develop a resilience that she carried over into her political role.

"The fashion industry is glamorous but, at the same time, it's very tough. Everybody judges you. Looks at you a certain way. So, it can be mean world as well. So, nothing prepared me more for this world than fashion. It gives you a thick skin," Melania explained.

During Donald's presidency, Melania faced various challenges but remained focused on her family and her duties. Her efforts to maintain a semblance of normalcy for their son Barron, especially during public and personal crises, were paramount.

Challenges and Triumphs

The attempt on Donald Trump's life was a stark reminder of the dangers inherent to political life. Melania reflected on the difficulty of explaining such events to their son Barron, emphasizing the need for unity and respect across the political spectrum.

Melania expressed distress over the political climate, "Is it really shocking that all this outrageous violence goes against my husband? Especially that we hear the leaders from the opposition party and mainstream media branding him as a threat to democracy, calling him vile names. They only fueling a toxic atmosphere and all of these people that they wanted to harm - this needs to stop. This needs to stop. The country needs to unite."

Despite these challenges, Melania supports her husband's renewed political ambitions, confident in his vision for America's future.

Reflections and Future Endeavors

With the upcoming release of her memoir on Oct. 8, Melania aims to set the record straight about her life, her role as First Lady, and the misconceptions circulated about her.

The memoir promises personal insights and photographs, shedding light on her journey from a fashion model to first lady.

"I believe that it was a time that I tell my story and the truth. It is a lot of misinformation and falsehoods written about me. And I want to put the record straight and people can learn some things that they were not discussed. And I hope they enjoy the book," said Melania.

The interview, rich with personal anecdotes and reflections, offered a rare glimpse into the private life and inner thoughts of Melania Trump, providing context to her public persona and her views on her husband's leadership and vision for America.
