Melania Trump Discusses Barron's College Life In NYC, Says She is Not an Empty Nester Yet

 September 28, 2024

Melania Trump recently shared insights on her son Barron's college experience, expressing pride and a unique parental perspective.

Mrs. Trump opened up about her son's adjustment to college life at NYU's Stern School of Business, highlighting his independence and the unique challenges he faces, as People reports.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Channel's Ainsley Earhardt, Trump, 54, discussed her 18-year-old son Barron Trump's new chapter at college.

The interview, which aired Thursday and Friday, touched on various aspects of Barron's life and his decision to study at the Stern School of Business.

Barron, who recently started his academic journey at NYU, lives in New York City, a choice that his mother fully supports. Melania emphasized that growing up, Barron was encouraged to make his own decisions, an upbringing she believes has prepared him well for this stage in his life.

"It was his decision to come here. He wants to be in New York and study in New York and live in his home, and I respect that," Melania remarked during the interview, showcasing her respect for her son's choices.

Melania Trump Admires Barron's Independence and Strength

Melania described Barron as an "incredible young man," praising his strength, intelligence, knowledge, and kindness. These qualities, she notes, make him admirable and well-suited to handle the pressures of being a student with a high-profile background.

Classes for Barron began on Sept. 4, as confirmed by security staff at NYU, marking the start of his formal education in business studies.

The proud mother hopes that despite his atypical circumstances, Barron will fully enjoy his college experience.

"I hope he will have a great experience because his life is very different than any other 18, 19-year-old child," Melania told Fox News, acknowledging the unique challenges Barron faces.

Continued Influence in Education and Life Choices

Even as Barron makes his way through college, Melania intends to remain an influential figure in his life, similar to how she guided him during his earlier educational years. This was evident in May when reports suggested her ongoing involvement in his decision-making processes.

Barron was also selected as a delegate for the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, an honor reflecting his engagement in political processes.

However, he ultimately declined to participate, choosing instead to focus on his studies and other commitments.

“While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments,” stated a release from Melania's office, highlighting Barron's priorities.

Melania Trump: A Mother's Perspective on College Life

"I could not say I'm an empty nester. I don't feel that way," Melania expressed, sharing her emotional state during this transitional phase in her family's life.

This sentiment resonates with many parents facing similar experiences, as they watch their children grow and embark on independent paths.

The former first lady's reflections provide a personal glimpse into the lives of one of America's most watched families as they navigate the complexities of public attention and personal growth.

Melania's interview not only sheds light on Barron's college life but also on her evolving role as a mother who respects her son's autonomy while continuing to provide guidance and support.
