Olivia Dunne gushes about her MLB star boyfriend

 March 2, 2024

LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne expressed admiration for her boyfriend, top Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Paul Skenes, following his impressive performance in his Spring Training debut on Thursday.

Skenes was selected as the first pick last year after amassing an impressive record of 13-2 with a 1.69 ERA and 209 strikeouts, leading LSU to the NCAA title.

He showcased his talent by throwing 10 pitches during his spring training debut.

Among them was a remarkable 102 mph fastball.

That performance was one Dunne proudly shared online on Thursday, as Fox News reported.

Dunne took to social media to share her excitement, posting a pitch clip and commenting, "Something slight."

Skenes' Stellar Performance

On the day of his debut, Skenes, who inked a record-breaking $9.2 million signing bonus last July, faced off against two first-round picks from the Baltimore Orioles -- Jackson Holliday and Adley Rutschman.

Expressing his feelings about the game, Skenes highlighted the thrill of pitching before a live audience and the adrenaline rush that comes with it.

Despite the Orioles clinching a 9-8 victory, Skenes felt content with his performance but acknowledged room for improvement.

"Pretty satisfied," he remarked, signaling his eagerness to refine his skills and readiness for future games.

The Power Couple

In a conversation on ESPN's Sports Center, Dunne opened up about her relationship with Skenes, emphasizing their strong bond.

She admires Skenes for his composure and believes they complement each other well, especially given her hectic lifestyle and the emotional ups and downs that come with it.

"He's pretty level-headed all the time, that's what I love about him," she said.

Dunne continued, "And I think we're a really good pair because of that."

Aim for the Stars

As the LSU Tigers gear up for their final conference matchup against Alabama, Dunne is not only focused on her personal life but also on her team's success.

With LSU gymnastics eyeing its first national championship, Dunne shared her aspirations for the team and the significance such a victory would hold for the university and its supporters.

"It would mean the world to this team and this university," she said, underscoring the historic opportunity for LSU gymnastics to claim a national title.
