Prince Harry watches soccer match in LA, but Meghan Markle was nowhere to be found

 September 4, 2023

Prince Harry fervently was spotted fervently cheering for Inter Miami's victory in Los Angeles, but Meghan Markle's absence from the event has raised eyebrows.

Harry, also known as the Duke of Sussex, seemed to be in high spirits at the BMO Stadium on Sunday night, where he was on hand to watch the soccer match between Inter Miami and Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC). This energetic appearance contrasted his demeanor from Friday when he, along with Markle, attended Beyonce's concert and appeared indifferent to the proceedings, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Harry's avid soccer support

The 38-year-old prince was seen cheerfully gesturing with an LAFC scarf during the match, signaling his support for his local team.

Interestingly, a pre-match notable attendees" media sheet had listed both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as in the crowd.

However, Meghan was notably missing from the event.

It's known that Prince Harry has a passion for sports.

He's mentioned in his memoir about his love for "dry sports" during his school days at Eton. These included cricket, football, rugby, and polo.

Harry's fondness for rugby is particularly evident. He remarked:

Beautiful game, plus a good excuse to run into stuff very hard. Rugby let me indulge my rage. I simply didn't feel pain the way other boys did, which made me scary on a pitch.

Star-studded soccer match

The evening wasn't just about soccer; it was also a gathering of celebrities.

Among the attendees were LAFC co-owner Will Ferrell, Leonardo DiCaprio, Owen Wilson, Selena Gomez, and Jason Sudeikis.

David Beckham, co-owner of Inter Miami, was also present, undoubtedly pleased with his team's performance since the addition of soccer sensation Lionel Messi.

Inter Miami's commendable performance saw them secure a 3-1 victory.

Players Facundo Farias, Jordi Alba, and Leonardo Campana were the ones to net the goals. Messi, despite his $54 million annual paycheck, provided two crucial assists.

Messi's impact at Inter Miami

Since Lionel Messi joined the Miami side in July, the team's performance has surged remarkably.

The Argentine superstar's debut match in Los Angeles was particularly anticipated, drawing a large crowd.

The team's impressive streak includes seven victories in Leagues Cup play, with two of those won on penalties.

Inter Miami's coach, Tata Martino, voiced his perspective after a challenging match against Nashville SC:

In the first half, the ball was moving too slowly; in the second I think we did a little better, but it was hard for us. These games usually happen, I understand everyone's frustration. We too felt it was a good night to continue gaining ground.

Harry's busy schedule and commitment to the Invictus Games

Prince Harry's visit to the BMO Stadium was just one of his numerous engagements over the weekend.

After the Beyonce concert on Friday and the soccer match Saturday, he is now gearing up for the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, Germany.

This sporting event, scheduled from Sept. 9 to 16, is designed for wounded veterans.

Omid Scobie, a close friend of the Sussexes, revealed that Meghan would join Harry "later on" during the Invictus Games and would stay for the Closing Ceremony.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry is anticipated to deliver a closing speech.

The Duchess will lead the "Lifestories Scene" segment of the festivities, focusing on the personal narratives of some of the participating athletes. Their unwavering spirit and recovery journeys will be highlighted.

The Duke of Sussex has vowed that this year's games will be the "best ever."
