Queen of Jordan gives advice after 30 years of marriage

 September 6, 2023

After 30 years of matrimony, Queen Rania of Jordan has imparted her advice on maintaining a robust marital bond.

Queen Rania recently marked more than three decades of marriage to her husband, Jordan's King Abdullah. Alongside celebrating her own wedding anniversary this year, the mother of four also witnessed the nuptials of two of her children, as the Daily Wire reported.

Emphasizing the importance of effort in relationships

Queen Rania mentioned:

Marriage is just like any other undertaking in life. You need to put in the work to make it work.

The popular royal also highlighted the parallels between professional and marital commitment.

She believes that just as individuals put forth their best efforts at work, the same diligence should be applied to one's relationship.

She articulated this sentiment by saying:

You bring your best self to work at the beginning of each day, so bring that best self to your partner, too … for the sake of the marriage and home you share but also the family you want to grow.

Avoiding complacency

The Jordanian queen recognizes the perils of becoming complacent, both in marriage and other spheres of life.

Queen Rania advised:

It’s sometimes easy to fall into the trap of complacency in a marriage, just as it is to become complacent in other areas of life. So, my humble advice is: Show up, do your absolute best and don’t forget to have a little fun while you’re at it.

Royal family celebrations

In recent months, Queen Rania's family witnessed multiple milestones.

Her daughter, Princess Iman, wed Jameel Alexander Thermiotis, a financier from New York, in March.

A few months later, Crown Prince Hussein tied the knot with Princess Rajwa in June.

For the queen, these occasions were filled with profound emotion.

She described these experiences as more "rewarding, emotional, and overwhelming" than she ever envisioned.

Emotional reflections on her children's weddings

She expressed her deepest sentiments when reminiscing about the events.

Referring to Princess Iman’s wedding, she said:

Seeing [my daughter] sitting by her father in her white dress … I couldn’t hold back the tears. And just a few months later, we had Hussein’s wedding, which was a memorable day for us and the entire country. The atmosphere in Jordan was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, and my family and I owe it all to the Jordanian people.

Queen Rania did not forget to express her gratitude to the people of Jordan.

The nation's joy during her son’s wedding was something she had never experienced before.

Continuing legacy of love and commitment

Queen Rania's insights provide a glimpse into the royal family's world, one that blends regality with relatable emotions and experiences.

Her wisdom serves as a reminder of the dedication required to cultivate lasting relationships.

With their recent milestones, the royal family continues to write their legacy of love, commitment, and togetherness in the heart of Jordan.
