Trump directs AG Pam Bondi to pursue release of Epstein grand jury testimony

 July 18, 2025

In a decisive move, President Donald Trump has instructed Attorney General Pam Bondi to facilitate the release of grand jury testimony related to Jeffrey Epstein's case, pending judicial approval, as the New York Post reports.

This action came in response to escalating demands from Trump's supporters and increasing media scrutiny following allegations linking Trump to Epstein.

The plan to promote openness was announced on Trump's Truth Social platform, emphasizing a commitment to transparency amid growing public curiosity.

Grand jury proceedings in review

The grand jury testimonies at issue were conducted within the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Currently sealed, these testimonies involve sensitive allegations about Epstein's misconduct.

Bondi quickly reacted to Trump's call, announcing plans to ask the court to unseal the testimony the following day, illustrating the urgency of the administration's transparency efforts.

This initiative was partly triggered by a provocative report from the Wall Street Journal that speculated on a note supposedly sent by Trump to Epstein decades ago, reigniting media attention and public debate.

Context of Epstein saga

Epstein's legal saga ended with his controversial death in August 2019 in a Manhattan jail cell, following charges of sex trafficking of minors, sparking widespread media coverage and conspiracy theories.

Following a thorough review, the FBI and DOJ said that was no evidence of blackmail or other criminal activity that would implicate third parties, also reaffirming the conclusion that Epstein's death was a suicide.

The agencies also confirmed the absence of any "client list," dispelling numerous speculative stories about the affiliations Epstein maintained with high-profile figures.

Trump downplays Epstein's importance

Supporting the conclusions drawn by the FBI and the DOJ, Trump has labeled the continuing allegations related to Epstein as unworthy of ongoing attention.

He has urged the public to overlook the conjecture and focus on the future.

Criticizing the continuous focus on Epstein by the media, Trump termed it a "SCAM, perpetuated by the Democrats," and stressed the need for an immediate end to the discourse.

Asserting his stance on the need for factual transparency, however, Trump later seemed to change course.

“Based on the ridiculous amount of publicity given to Jeffrey Epstein, I have asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval," he said.

Prior testimony recalled

In 2006, the release of numerous pages of grand jury testimony from a Florida case against Epstein unveiled serious allegations of sexual misconduct against young girls, casting a harsh light on Epstein's crimes.

With Bondi gearing up to potentially reveal more documents, observers and critics alike are on edge, waiting to see what new information might come to light.

The days ahead may be crucial, offering a deeper glimpse into Epstein's complex legal past and the potential implications for those associated with him.
