Rep. Ashley Hinson commends Trump's policies on border security, crime
In a recent interview, Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) discussed President Donald Trump's achievements in reducing illegal immigration and crime. Speaking on Breitbart News Saturday, she emphasized improvements in border security and public safety, as Breitbart reports.
Hinson praised Trump's efforts, highlighting a decrease in illegal immigration and crime reduction as significant successes.
The U.S. has seen a noticeable reduction of 1.6 million illegal aliens this year. Hinson attributed these results to Trump's strict border policies, emphasizing their effectiveness in curbing illegal activities.
Trump's immigration impact
Trump's policies have resulted in a reported decrease in border crossings and illegal entries, which Hinson claims have reached zero.
The effectiveness of these actions is partly due to a significant legislative bill that allocated additional resources to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
According to Hinson, the allocation of resources has empowered ICE and CBP agents to carry out their duties efficiently.
“It's truly incredible,” she said, regarding what has been achieved in Trump's first months in office.
Moreover, Hinson pointed out the deportation efforts as a sign of adherence to national laws. She insisted that as a nation of laws, the U.S. needs to ensure these laws are followed.
Enhanced safety collaboration in D.C.
A recent executive order has allowed collaboration between Washington, D.C., police and ICE agents. Hinson expressed optimism about this development, seeing it as a step toward improved public safety.
She criticized previous policies and leadership, suggesting they had contributed to a crime-prone atmosphere in the nation's capital. However, she sees improvements as aligning with America's broader public safety goals.
Hinson highlighted the satisfaction of law enforcement officers, now able to work more effectively with ICE. “These are the brave men and women…dealing with all these dangerous criminals,” she observed.
Public safety: A priority across America
Concerns for safety in Washington, D.C., extend beyond its borders, affecting visitors from across the nation.
“I want Americans to feel safe when they're coming to visit our nation's capital,” said Hinson, underscoring the universal desire for security.
She also mentioned the importance of ensuring safety for her constituents from Iowa visiting D.C. This sentiment reflects America's broader demand for a secure environment throughout the country, including in major urban centers.
Hinson's remarks suggested that the current administration's policies are a response to calls for enhanced security. She believes these policies signal a shift in how safety and immigration issues are handled at the national level.
Addressing the policing debate
Despite achievements, Hinson acknowledged criticism from some quarters. She noted that opponents often advocate police defunding, making their positions counterproductive in her view.
She argues that safety is a non-negotiable aspect of life in the capital and nationwide. “If we don't have safety, we don't have anything,” she stated, linking the need for security to effective governance.
The interview highlighted how border security and crime reduction remain key priorities for Hinson and her supporters. As she believes these initiatives align with the American public's core concerns, she remains optimistic about continued progress under Trump's administration.
