Report: Sacramento TV station shooting suspect shared anti-Trump opinions
In a shocking development that has rattled Sacramento, a 64-year-old man was arrested for allegedly firing shots into the lobby of an ABC affiliate news station on Friday morning.
The suspect, named Anibal Hernandez-Santana, faces several charges after the shooting, which took place just one day after a protest outside the station concerning the suspension of comedian Jimmy Kimmel, as Breitbart reports.
The protest, which occurred on Thursday, was sparked by Kimmel’s recent remarks implying that the person suspected of attempting to assassinate conservative commentator Charlie Kirk might have been a supporter of former President Donald Trump.
Shooting probe underway
This public outcry provided a tense backdrop for the alarming event on Friday, when Hernandez-Santana is accused of targeting the news station in a dangerous act of violence.
As reported by Variety, he was taken into custody and charged with serious offenses, including assault with a deadly weapon, negligent discharge of a firearm, and shooting into an occupied building.
According to current jail records, Hernandez-Santana remains in custody with bail set at a significant amount of $200,000 while authorities continue their investigation into the matter.
Delving into suspects past career
Prior to this troubling incident, Hernandez-Santana had a notable career in public policy, serving as a health policy analyst for the California Rural Indian Health Board until he was let go in 2018.
A LinkedIn profile associated with his name further reveals that he also worked as a legislative director for the California Federation of Teachers, highlighting his involvement in educational advocacy at the state level.
Now listed as retired on that same professional platform, he identifies his current focus as being dedicated to full-time parenting responsibilities in his day-to-day personal life.
Uncovering beliefs via social media
Adding a deeper dimension to the story, an X account under Hernandez-Santana’s name has come to light, showing a consistent stream of critical commentary directed at Trump and his political supporters over an extended period.
In one pointed post, reacting to Rep. Troy Nehls of Texas comparing Kirk to a Biblical disciple, Hernandez-Santana wrote, “This is Blasphemy. Can’t believe these Republicans sucking up to their own twisted show.”
He elaborated in the same message, “Besides, St Paul of Tarsus WAS the 13th disciple. White Moronic man.”
Strong stances emerge
Another entry on X showed Hernandez-Santana endorsing harsh consequences for Tyler Robinson, the alleged assassin of Kirk, but only under specific conditions related to political responsibility at the highest levels of power.
He stated, “as soon as the fed criminal code is amended to add the death penalty for a president who refuses to step down after certified election results and/or incites an insurrection.”
Moreover, commenting on Trump’s decision to mobilize the National Guard in Washington, D.C., he wrote, “Let’s get this straight. One DOGE employee is carjacked, manages to survive unscathed, and an entire military force is sent down. Trump looks for any excuse to flex his dictatorial plans and to distract his MAGA fans from the Epstein files!!”
