RFK Jr. Admits to Central Park Bear Cub Dump in Video with Roseanne Barr

 August 5, 2024

In an unusual twist of events, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has admitted to an odd incident that took place a decade ago involving the disposal of a deceased bear cub in Central Park.

In a video shared on social media platform X, Kennedy, a current presidential hopeful, recounts the macabre 2014 occurrence to comedian Roseanne Barr, doing so in anticipation of a story by The New Yorker, as Fox News reports.

The video, posted Sunday, captures Kennedy and Barr sitting around a dinner table in a home. During their conversation, Kennedy divulges details of the event aimed at preempting a story The New Yorker was preparing to publish.

The incident transpired in 2014 when Kennedy was engaged in falconry in Goshen, New York, about two hours north of New York City. During this outing, a woman driving a van struck and killed a young bear. Kennedy decided to take the bear with him, initially planning to skin it and use the meat.

An Unusual Decision

After spending an extended period hawking, Kennedy had a dinner obligation in New York City. Following the meal, he needed to head to the airport from the city and was unable to make a trip to his home. This situation led to an unusual decision.

"I didn’t want to leave the bear in my car because that would have been bad," Kennedy explained. Under pressure and time constraints, coupled with a series of bicycle accidents in Central Park during that period, an unorthodox idea emerged.

Kennedy, together with his acquaintances, decided to place the bear in Central Park in such a way that it appeared to have been hit by a bicycle. "So, everybody thought, ‘That’s a great idea.’ So, we went and did that," he said. They found this notion amusing and hoped it would entertain whoever discovered the bear.

Media Frenzy and Police Presence

The incident quickly became a sensation, capturing significant media coverage the next day. "It was on every television station. It was on the front page of every paper," Kennedy recalled.

The scene in Central Park was chaotic, with an extensive police presence including yellow tape, numerous cop cars, and even helicopters. Kennedy’s fingerprints were found all over the bike at the site.

"I turned on the TV and there was a mile of yellow tape. And there were 20 cop cars. There were helicopters flying over it. And I was like, ‘Oh my God. What did I do?'" Kennedy recounted.

Despite the initial media fervor, the story gradually subsided and had remained dormant until The New Yorker recently unearthed it while researching for an article. Kennedy’s video seemed to be a preemptive measure in light of the impending publication.

Addressing Incident with Humor

In the video, Kennedy takes a humorous approach to recounting the story, perhaps as an attempt to control the narrative before The New Yorker’s piece is released. "Luckily the story died after a while and it stayed dead for a decade," he stated.

Wrapping up the video, Kennedy refers to the upcoming report with a mix of anticipation and resignation: "It’s going to be a bad story," he muses, then jestingly adds, "Looking forward to seeing how you spin this one."

The resurfaced story has been a curious mix of humor and puzzling decisions, hitting the internet with a new wave of reactions.

Kennedy's Reflective Tone

While some may find the incident bizarre and others entertaining, it certainly sheds a different light on the presidential candidate.

The timing of his revelations and his conversational tone with Barr indicate an attempt to demystify the tale before it escalates again in public view.

As more details emerge with The New Yorker article, this peculiar chapter from Kennedy’s past may take on new dimensions, shaping public perception in unforeseen ways. For now, the video stands as his testimony of an otherwise strange and unforgettable occurrence.

Ultimately, Kennedy’s video serves as a reflective recount of an incident that had largely been forgotten, once more reminding the public of the unusual events that can mark the life of public figures.
