RFK Jr’s VP Claims Democrats Fear Possible Trump Alliance

 August 23, 2024

Amid ongoing political strife, Nicole Shanahan, RFK Jr.'s vice-presidential running mate, has publicly stated that the Democratic Party fears that the upstart independent campaign could throw its support behind Donald Trump.

According to Shanahan, her past colleagues on the left have expressed deep worries through various communications about the potential political realignment, as Fox News reports.

Shanahan Discusses Democratic Opposition

The VP candidate has accused the Democratic Party and affiliated super PACs of engaging in tactics aimed at sabotaging the Kennedy/Shanahan campaign.

These include lawsuits, restricted debate access, and alleged manipulations in media coverage and polling.

During an appearance on Fox News @ Night, she expanded on these accusations.

Shanahan highlighted how these efforts were particularly focused on hindering their campaign's chances by blocking ballot access.

Her remarks have stirred controversy, especially her direct criticism of the Democratic strategies to limit her campaign's visibility and effectiveness.

Shanahan specifically pointed out, "When I point out what the Democratic Party and their super PACs have done to sabotage our campaign, their response is always, ‘but Trump is worse.’"

"Here’s an idea: stop suing us. Let us debate. Quit rigging the media and the polls. It’s a simple formula, people—get with it," she added.

Upcoming Campaign Suspension in Arizona

A credible source close to the Kennedy campaign has hinted at potential plans for RFK Jr. to suspend his presidential campaign.

This announcement is scheduled for Friday in Phoenix, Arizona.

The decision comes after a series of challenges, including disputes over ballot access, such as a recent residency issue in New York State which has significantly impeded their campaign efforts.

The downturn in support for the Kennedy/Shanahan ticket is reflected in recent polling data from Fox News.

The outlet revealed a decrease in national support from a peak of 15% in November 2023 to just 6% this month, down from 10% in July.

Trump Expresses Support for RFK Jr.

Former President Donald Trump has commented on the situation, stating his respect for RFK Jr. and expressing a positive view towards an endorsement.

"RFK Jr is a very good person. If he endorsed me, I would be honored by it. He really has his heart in the right place. He is a respected person," Trump said.

This statement adds another layer to the complex political dynamics surrounding the independent campaign's potential cessation and the implications for the upcoming election cycle.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, the actions and decisions of independent candidates like RFK Jr. and his running mate Nicole Shanahan remain closely watched by both major parties and the electorate, reflecting the unpredictable nature of this election season.
