The footage
"Security video obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com reveals how the fading tech mogul made repeated, desperate attempts to flag down passing cars – only to watch in horror as they sped away," the outlet reported.
"The brutal killing in former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's staunchly Democrat electoral district has ignited concern over public safety and soaring homelessness in San Francisco," it added.
The stabbing death of CashApp founder Bob Lee has prompted comments perpetuating the notion that San Francisco is dangerous and crime-riddled, but data shows violent crime – especially homicides – are well below that of many other cities of a similar size. https://t.co/H4pBLEtxo0

The family's statement
“Bobby worked harder than anyone and was the smartest person I have ever known. He will be missed by all those that knew him,” his father, Richard Lee, said in a Facebook post, according to NBC News. “Thank you to those who have reached out in support.”
"The father and son had been living in Miami since October after moving from California, Richard Lee said in the post. They had grown especially close after Bob Lee’s mother died in 2019. It wasn't immediately clear why Lee was back in the Bay Area," the report added.

The city's crime
"Actor Sara Foster, daughter of legendary musician and producer David Foster, blasted San Francisco’s “liberal” leadership following tech mogul Bob Lee’s violent death in the city earlier this week," the New York Post reported.
“I have no words,” she wrote. “SF is a complete s—hole. I am a registered Democrat and feel confident saying liberal politicians are ruining cities.”
“Disgusting. My heart breaks for this family,” she added.

Despite the highly public death of Lee, his stabbing does not necessarily mean that the city's crime rate is increasing.
“When a very high profile tech person is murdered, it is just going to get more publicity than if it was an impoverished person in a neighborhood of color,” George Tita, a criminal justice professor at the University of California, Irvine, said.
“It’s just low-hanging fruit. Nobody wants to look at actual statistics. Most of the states and counties with the highest level of crime statistics are in red states versus blue states," he argued.
