Sylvester Stallone says he relishes new life in Florida after leaving California
At 79, Sylvester Stallone has embarked on a refreshing chapter by trading California’s golden hills for Florida’s sunny shores, a decision he stands by with unwavering contentment.
In a candid conversation with Fox News, Stallone and his wife, Jennifer Flavin, expressed their joy over the relocation, attributing it to personal fulfillment, a better-suited environment, and evolving family needs, as Breitbart reports.
The legendary actor, celebrated for iconic roles in Rocky and Rambo, shared his enthusiasm for his new home in the Sunshine State.
Stallone discovers happiness in Florida
He pointed out the invigorating atmosphere as a key factor, noting how the fresh environment uplifts his daily life. “I love it,” Stallone told Fox News, capturing his genuine affection for the region.
“First of all, the air seems to always be clean. We’re very, very near the water and that makes my wife incredibly happy. It makes me happy, and it’s just so lush,” he elaborated.
A return to familiar roots
Stallone’s connection to Florida isn’t a recent development; he spent formative years as a drama student at the University of Miami. “I went to college there for a couple of years. So, I’m not a stranger to the environment, but it fits my personality much better,” he reflected.
This longstanding tie to the state made the transition feel like a homecoming of sorts for the actor.
Family shifts prompt move
The decision to leave California became public in 2023 when Flavin, Stallone’s wife, revealed their plans to settle in Florida. Flavin, who grew up in California and raised two of their children there, admitted to a deep fondness for her home state.
Yet, with their daughters now residing on the East Coast and close companions having relocated, she sensed a lack of ties binding her to California.
Chasing change
Addressing potential misconceptions, Flavin clarified that their departure from California wasn’t driven by concerns over safety.
“There’s crime everywhere, there’s crime in Florida, too, so I didn’t move because of crime. You can find it anywhere you look, even in small towns,” she explained.
Instead, her motivation stemmed from a desire for transformation after spending much of her life in one place.
Bold decisions in later life
Flavin’s perspective on the brevity of life further fueled her readiness to relocate and experience something different.
“I felt like I’ve been there long enough, and life is short, so I wanted to make a change and not just be sitting in one house the rest of my life,” she shared.
This mindset reflects her determination to live fully, embracing new environments and opportunities.
A couple clearly united
Both Stallone and Flavin appear united in their satisfaction with the move, each finding personal reasons to cherish their new setting.
For Stallone, it’s the environment that resonates with his character, while Flavin values the shift in lifestyle and social circles.
Together, they’ve embarked on this journey, finding happiness in Florida’s distinct charm and a renewed sense of purpose.
