Taylor Swift to Skip Kamala Harris Rally in Favor of Boyfriend's NFL Game

 November 4, 2024

In a surprising turn of events, Taylor Swift is not slated to attend Kamala Harris's crucial final campaign rally, instead choosing to join fans at an NFL game featuring Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Swift, who has endorsed Harris for president, is expected to attend Monday night's NFL game at Arrowhead Stadium, potentially sparking rage against those who believe she should be present for the last leg of the Democrat's campaign, as the Daily Mail reports.

The pop star's decision comes despite previous rumors that she might attend or even perform at Harris's final rally. NBC News has confirmed that Swift is not listed as a musical guest at any of Harris’s closing events.

Instead, the lineup includes notable artists such as Fat Joe, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry, underscoring the star power Harris has mobilized in support of her campaign.

Taylor Swift's NFL Appearance Coincides with Rally Date

Having completed her Eras Tour concert in Indianapolis on Sunday night, Swift’s schedule is clear until her next performance in Toronto on Nov. 14.

This has allowed her to attend several Chiefs games this season, supporting Kelce, with whom she has been romantically linked for some time.

On Oct. 7, Swift was spotted at a Chiefs game where they secured a victory against the New Orleans Saints. She also attended the team’s first two games against the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals.

This consistent presence at Chiefs games has sparked further interest in her personal life and public appearances.

Harris's Rally Gathers Other Celebrity Support Despite Swift's Absence

While Swift will not be present, Harris's campaign events in recent days have not lacked for celebrity endorsements. Stars such as Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, and Cardi B have shown their support at other rallies.

The final rally aims to solidify Harris's appeal just before voters head to the polls on Tuesday.

Harris, running together with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, was endorsed by Swift in a passionate Instagram post earlier this September.

In her endorsement, Swift highlighted Harris's leadership qualities and Walz's advocacy for issues such as LGBTQ+ rights and access to IVF, praising the ticket's commitment to what she sees as important social issues.

Swift and Harris: A Partnership of Politics and Pop Culture

Swift's Instagram endorsement explained her rationale, saying, "I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them," Swift wrote.

Her post emphasized what she said was Harris’s steady leadership and Walz’s longstanding support for key issues, reflecting Swift's hopes for a leadership driven by "calm and not chaos."

She signed off her endorsement with a personal touch, referring to herself humorously as a "Childless Cat Lady," which resonated with her fanbase and drew attention across social media platforms.

Chiefs Continue Winning Streak

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs are looking to defend their Super Bowl title in robust fashion. They have maintained a perfect record this season, winning all seven of their games so far, which adds to the excitement surrounding Swift’s attendance.

Their next opponents, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, hold a 4-4 record this season, setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling encounter on Monday night.

The convergence of high-profile events -- Swift's NFL appearances and Harris’s final rally -- showcases the intersection of entertainment, sports, and politics as America gears up for the presidential election.
