Top Biden aide who was tied to Hunter Biden was the first one to hand over classified documents

A senior advisor to President Joe Biden, who has also been connected to Hunter Biden and even addressed him as a "brother" in correspondence, was the first individual to oversee the "inventory" of Biden's documents and materials at his analytical institute, according to a recently disclosed timeline from the House Oversight Committee, as Fox News reported.

Earlier this week, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer (KY-01), exerted pressure on the White House, asserting that officials supplied his committee with a timeline he described as "incomplete and misleading" concerning who sifted through the documents at the Washington, D.C., office for the president's think tank, known as the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement.

Annie Tomasini, occupying a senior advisory role within the Biden administration, was the official to examine the classified documents on March 18, 2021, merely two months after Biden assumed office.

Insight into the Oversight Committee's Concerns

Comer voiced his concerns, asserting, "President Biden's team has misled the American people about the series of events related to his mishandling of classified documents."

He highlighted that although Biden's team informed the public that documents were unexpectedly discovered in November 2022, it has now been revealed that a White House official and a close associate of Hunter Biden were assigned to catalog the president's documents and materials as early as March 2021.

A major concern revolves around why such early involvement and evaluation of documents were undertaken almost 20 months before they were officially reported as found.

He emphasized, "The Oversight Committee will continue to pursue the facts and provide the transparency and accountability that the American people demand."

Comer's communication with White House counsel Edward Siskel highlighted a demand for cooperation from several White House aides in scrutinizing their communications and actions spanning 2021 and 2022.

Additionally, the chairman's letter uncovered that no fewer than "five White House employees, including Dana Remus, Anthony Bernal, Ashley Williams, Annie Tomasini, and an unknown staffer," along with Kathy Chung, a top aide to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, made multiple trips to the Penn Biden Center and were associated with the collection of documents and materials in early November 2022.

Delving into Tomasini's Connection with the Bidens

Tomasini and Hunter maintained correspondence throughout the Obama administration, often expressing familial and friendly sentiments, corroborated by emails from 2010 to 2016.

In one instance, before Tomasini accepted a position with Harvard University in December 2010, she kept Hunter informed about key details. In another exchange, Hunter guided Tomasini through a speech for Harvard only after receiving his feedback on the draft.

Furthermore, President Biden frequently hosted meetings with his inner circle at his Wilmington, Delaware, residence, where classified documents were also located. Hunter Biden spent time at the residence during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tomasini and Anthony Bernal, a senior adviser in first lady Jill Biden's office, were frequent visitors as "neither of them had their own families, which meant they could devote themselves entirely to the Bidens," according to the book, Lucky: How Joe Biden Barely Won the Presidency.

The Current Probe & White House Response

Special Counsel Robert Hur, appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland, leads the current probe into Biden's handling of classified materials. During preparation to vacate office space at the center, used by the president from mid-2017 until the commencement of the 2020 presidential campaign, the documents were discovered in a locked closet.

The National Archives took possession of the documents on Nov. 3, 2022, as revealed in an initial timeline provided by Biden's personal attorney, Bob Bauer.

Despite the ongoing probe and the recently revealed details, the president and the White House are reportedly cooperating with the investigation, according to Ian Sams, a spokesperson for the White House Counsel's Office.

He stated, "As we have said from the beginning, the President and the White House are cooperating with this investigation, and as it has been appropriate, we have provided relevant updates publicly, being as transparent as we can, consistent with protecting and preserving the integrity of the investigation."
