Trump: Declares No Legal Pursuit of Biden, Aims for Successful Governance

 December 10, 2024
In a revealing interview on NBC's "Meet the Press," President-elect Donald Trump declared his intention not to pursue legal action against former President Joe Biden.
According to Breitbart, he emphasized a shift in focus towards national success rather than seeking retribution against political adversaries.Trump, who recently won the presidential election, shared these insights during a detailed conversation with journalists. This discussion aimed to clarify his plans and priorities before taking office in January. His appointment choices hint at his administration's direction. He named Kash Patel as the incoming FBI Director. Patel, known for his controversial stance on the so-called “deep state,” has marked various public figures, including Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton, as part of this group.

Trump Directs New FBI Leadership, Dismisses Pursuit

Despite appointing Patel, Trump denied any directive toward investigating these identified individuals. His approach seems to pivot away from his earlier aggressive campaign rhetoric. "No. I mean, he’s going to do what he thinks is right. And I will — and I will —," Trump elucidated during the interview, hinting at a hands-off approach in potential legal actions by Patel.

This stance is a departure from a post-Trump made on Truth Social on June 12, 2023; he had then emphasized a harsher stance against Biden. "You said that on Truth Social, June 12, 2023: 'I will appoint a real special prosecutor to go after the most corrupt president in the history of the United States, Joe Biden – and the entire Biden crime family,'" NBC's Kristen Welker reminded him during the interview.

Shifting Focus to National Success

“Well, that part is true,” Trump admitted about his past statement but reaffirmed his current disposition. He further expressed, "I’m really looking to make our country successful. I’m not looking to go back into the past. I’m looking to make our country successful."

Illustrating his priorities, Trump highlighted his plans to focus on reducing crime and managing economic issues, particularly lowering grocery prices – a pivotal issue during his campaign. His electoral success, as he noted, was influenced significantly by his policies on border security and economic management.

“If they think that somebody was dishonest or crooked or a corrupt politician, I think he probably has an obligation to do it, but—", Trump said, reflecting on the responsibilities that come with Patel's role, but without explicitly endorsing any prosecutorial actions.

Appointee Pam Bondi Expected to Play Fair

Further appointments like Pam Bondi, described as "very popular and very good and very fair," suggest Trump's intent to foster a balanced administration. His emphasis on fairness and popularity could signal an administration focused more on unity and less on divisive tactics.

“I’m looking to make our country great. I’m looking to get – bring prices down. Because, you know, I won on two things, the border and more than immigration. You know, they like to say immigration, I break it down more to the border, but I won on the border, and I won on groceries,” Trump elaborated on his vision for America’s future.

Redefining Political Retribution Through Success

His final thoughts encapsulated his forward-looking approach: “Retribution will be through success. If we can make our success – this country successful, that would be my greatest, that would be such a great achievement.”

Through these statements, Trump outlines a presidency that, while aware of his and his appointee’s powers, seeks to use success as the ultimate vindication rather than engaging in punitive political battles. This marks a significant pivot from earlier promises and may set the tone for his upcoming term in office.
