Trump Reportedly Engaged In Confidential Discussions With Jamie Dimon On White House Plans

 November 30, 2024

As the inauguration nears, President-elect Donald Trump has been shaping his policy agenda through private conversations with JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon.

Despite months of secretive meetings and discussions on key fiscal policies, Jamie Dimon will not join Trump's upcoming administration, Fox Business reported.

The discussions between Trump and Dimon, centered on government spending, tax reforms, trade, and banking regulations, have been pivotal as Trump prepares for his second term. These strategic talks have spanned several months, using Dimon's expertise as a foundation for developing robust policy frameworks.

News of these talks first surfaced in a report by The New York Post, further elaborated by FOX Business correspondent Charlie Gasparino, highlighting the depth of Dimon’s involvement in shaping the forthcoming policies.

Trump Expresses Admiration For Dimon's Expertise But Rules Out Cabinet Role

Following the media revelations, Trump took to social media to address the speculation around Dimon’s role in his administration. He announced that while he respects Dimon’s contributions to national issues, the banking mogul would not serve in his cabinet. Instead, Trump disclosed his nomination of Scott Bessent, founder of Key Square, for the position of Treasury Secretary.

Trump’s post on Truth Social explicitly stated his admiration for Dimon. "I respect Jamie Dimon, of JPMorgan Chase, greatly, but he will not be invited to be a part of the Trump Administration," he wrote.

This decision comes despite Dimon’s previous criticisms of the January 6 Capitol attack and his cautious praise for some of Trump’s past policies during a CNBC interview earlier this year.

Dimon's Mixed Views On Trump's Policy Impact Discussed In Public Forums

In his CNBC interview, Dimon reflected on Trump’s previous tenure, acknowledging the effectiveness of certain policies. "Take a step back, be honest. He was kind of right about NATO, kind of right on immigration. He grew the economy quite well. Trade tax reform worked. He was right about some of China," Dimon commented.

These remarks from Dimon have been seen as a balanced view of Trump's policy impact, blending critique with commendation, which Trump appreciated publicly.

Despite these engagements and Dimon's positive remarks about Trump's presidency, he has decided to remain neutral in the ongoing presidential election, not endorsing any candidate.

Conclusion: Dimon Stays Out of Administration But Remains a Key Advisor

As Trump gears up for his second term, the advisory role of influential figures like Jamie Dimon underscores the strategic planning behind his policy agenda. While Dimon will not hold an official position, his input appears to have played a significant role in shaping the discussions on key national issues.

This move to involve industry leaders like Dimon, yet maintain them outside the official administrative framework, signals a strategic approach by Trump to leverage expertise while managing political optics.

As the administration prepares to take office, the insights from these consultations are likely to influence the trajectory of Trump’s second term, even as Dimon continues to lead from the sidelines.
