Vance condemns Dallas ICE sniper attack as left-wing extremism

 September 25, 2025

Tragedy struck Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday as a gunman unleashed a deadly attack on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility, leaving one detainee dead and two others injured.

The incident, which ended with the shooter taking his own life, was swiftly condemned by Vice President JD Vance, who linked the violence to left-wing extremism and criticized Democratic Party rhetoric for fueling such acts, as Breitbart reports.

The attack occurred early Wednesday at the ICE facility in Dallas, marking a violent assault on a federal immigration detention center.

According to FBI Director Kash Patel, the shooter killed one detainee and wounded two others before ending his own life.

Patel also confirmed that no law enforcement officers were harmed during the incident.

Evidence recovered at the scene included shell casings, one of which bore the marking "ANTI ICE," as shown in a photo released by the FBI.

Political motives emerge

Hours after the attack, Vance addressed the incident during a speech near Charlotte, North Carolina.

He described the perpetrator as a "violent left-wing extremist" driven by political motives.

"In Dallas, Texas, an ICE facility… was opened fire upon by a violent left-wing extremist, a person who wrote 'ANTI ICE' messaging on their bullets," Vance stated.

Vance blames rhetoric for inspiring violence

He added, "And there’s some evidence that we have that’s not yet public, but we know this person was politically motivated."

Vance expressed outrage, saying, "They were politically motivated to go after law enforcement… The very people who keep us safe ought to be honored, and protected, and praised by Democrats and Republicans alike."

He accused Democrat leaders and certain media outlets of using language that demonizes ICE and other law enforcement agencies, potentially inciting such attacks.

Media missteps draw VP's critique

Vance specifically referenced a since-corrected NBC News article and social media post from Tuesday that initially misreported ICE activities involving a young girl in Massachusetts.

The corrected post clarified, "Video shows ICE with 5-year-old girl while agents attempt to arrest her father," noting that an earlier version had misrepresented the agents' actions.

Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin criticized NBC News for failing to contact the Department of Homeland Security before publishing what she called "smears," while Vance labeled the original story "a complete fabrication."
