Ted Cruz Says Harris Collaborating with Mexican Leaders to Facilitate Illegal Immigration

 September 4, 2024

In a bold accusation, a prominent Republican has claimed that Vice President Kamala Harris is conspiring with Mexico to boost illegal immigration to the U.S. for her own political gain.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) has voiced serious allegations against Harris, charging her with overseeing a coordinated effort with the Mexican government to increase illegal immigration, a claim that emerged on the heels of Mexico's announcement of facilitated transport for asylum seekers to the U.S. border, as Fox News reports.

During an installment of his Verdict podcast which aired on a Monday, Cruz emphasized his concerns about the intentions behind the policy moves supported by Harris and other Democratic leaders.

He suggests these actions are designed to shift U.S. political dynamics toward the left.

Enhanced Migrant Services As Political Strategy

The Mexican government recently started to provide escorted bus rides from cities like Villahermosa and Tapachula directly to the U.S. border. According to Cruz, this strategy is set in motion to make the asylum application process more attractive, thereby increasing the number of migrants entering the U.S.

Cruz points out that this escalation in migrant services coincides with the U.S.'s expansion of the CBP One application for asylum seekers in southern Mexico.

He argues that this facilitates easier access to the U.S. for migrants, which could potentially alter the demographic balance and political leanings of the nation.

According to Cruz, the primary objective behind these facilitated migrations is the potential increase in Democratic voters in the United States. He claims that Vice President Harris and the Mexican president referred to as AMLO, are both committed to this strategy.

Bus Services and Alleged Political Motivations

Cruz explicitly claimed, "Kamala Harris wants more illegal immigrants in America," indicating a direct accusation towards the Vice President's policies. He further remarked on the involvement of Mexico in encouraging such movements, describing the bus services with armed escorts as an act of supporting human traffickers.

The senator continued, saying, "They will provide bus rides throughout Mexico, along with armed escorts from police and soldiers to bring illegal immigrants to the border to invade this country. And they’re doing this because Kamala Harris wants them to do this," portraying the process as a deliberate plan orchestrated at high political levels.

The motivations for such actions, according to Cruz, stem from a desire to "fundamentally shift the policies of the United States of America and to move them dramatically to the left,” with the ultimate goal of securing perpetual electoral victories for the Democrats.

Controversial Claims Spark Debate

The allegations made by Cruz highlight a deep rift in how immigration policies are perceived in terms of their long-term impacts on U.S. politics. During the podcast, co-host Ben Ferguson agreed with Cruz on the mutual benefits perceived by both U.S. Democrats and Mexican officials in facilitating immigration.

"Both for the same reason, which is to fundamentally shift the policies of the United States of America and to move them dramatically to the left," echoed Cruz on the podcast. He underscored the notion that such a demographic change would skew electoral outcomes in favor of the Democrats.

Consequently, these statements by Cruz have ignited a contentious debate on the true intent behind the assistance provided to migrants and the broader implications for national security and electoral integrity. Following these claims, Fox News Digital sought comments from Harris' office, yet a response remained pending at the time of reporting.

Implications of Cruz's Claims on US-Mexico Relations

This recent controversy serves to underscore the complexity of U.S.-Mexico relations, particularly in the realm of immigration and asylum policies.

The intersection of immigration with political strategy, as outlined by Cruz, presents a multifaceted challenge for policymakers on both sides of the border.

The facilitated transport for migrants has been portrayed by critics such as Cruz as a politically motivated move designed to reshape the U.S. political landscape, a notion that carries significant implications for future bilateral cooperation on migration and border security.

This unfolding controversy will likely continue to influence the dialogue on immigration reform and the broader geopolitical strategy between the U.S. and Mexico, highlighting the contentious nature of immigration in North American politics.
