Vice Presidential Nominee Vance Criticizes Harris’ Remarks

 October 10, 2024

Vice President Kamala Harris faced criticism for her comments on a recent television appearance.

Senator JD Vance used Vice President Kamala Harris's statements on The View to critique her preparedness and position on President Joe Biden's policies, Breitbart reported.

Appearing on the talk show "The View" on Tuesday, Harris was asked by host Sunny Hostin if she would have done anything differently compared to President Joe Biden over the past four years. In response, Harris stated, "not a thing comes to mind," while emphasizing her involvement in many impactful decisions during that time.

Republican Nominee JD Vance Responds Critically

Following Harris's appearance, JD Vance, a Republican vice-presidential nominee, voiced his criticisms during a campaign event in Michigan. Vance, who has been the presumptive Republican nominee for nearly three months, used Harris's response as an opportunity to highlight what he perceives as her lack of preparation. He accused Harris of trying to distance herself from the President's policies on the campaign trail.

During his remarks, Vance stated, "You know what she says, ‘I can’t really think of anything off the top of my head.’ Now, in her defense, I’m not sure she could think of anything off the top of her head, whether about Joe Biden’s policies or anything else.” This comment was a part of his broader critique of Harris's approach to campaign issues.

Vance Critiques Harris on Key Issues

Alongside his criticisms of Harris's remarks on The View, Vance continued to attack her on several key political issues. He criticized the Vice President for her handling of economic matters, specifically accusing her of increasing the cost of groceries by 25 percent. According to Vance, families in Michigan are now paying $12,000 more per year compared to during former President Donald Trump's administration.

Vance also targeted Harris's role in border security, describing the border as "wide open" due to her policies as Border Czar. He asserted that Harris attempts to distance herself from the administration's policies, despite her current role as Vice President.

In his comments on the campaign trail, Vance remarked, “The border is wide open, thanks to our illustrious Border Czar Kamala Harris, and her entire campaign has been to pretend that she doesn’t bear any responsibility for the policies, even though she’s the sitting Vice President.”

Vance Criticizes Harris’s Separation Efforts

According to Vance, Harris's efforts to separate herself from Biden's policies during her campaign efforts have been evident over the past two months. Vance remarked, “Think about this: For the last two months, Kamala Harris has been telling the American people that she’s going to do things differently than Joe Biden, where she increased the cost of groceries by 25 percent.”

This criticism, particularly on economic issues, is a key component of Vance's strategy to challenge Harris’s position as a Democratic candidate, alluding to her attempts to delineate herself from President Biden’s administration’s policies.

Former President Trump Weighs In

Former President Donald Trump also joined in on the criticism of Harris’s recent remarks. He took to social media to amplify his disapproval, calling her response "her dumbest answer so far." Trump's remarks further highlighted the political tensions surrounding Harris's comments on The View.

As Vice President Harris continues to campaign, the contrasting views between her and her Republican counterparts, like Vance and Trump, are likely to remain a significant aspect of the political discourse leading up to the elections.

The commentary and critiques surrounding her remarks on The View underscore the political scrutiny she faces amidst the broader context of her campaign efforts.
