A newly engaged bowling alley worker in Turkey died after a pin-setting machine crushed her while she tried to fix a glitch, and the entertainment center owner was arrested.

The New York Post reported that Melike Yeter, 28, was struck Wednesday at a child entertainment center in Corum while trying to clear a glitch in the pin-setting machine.

The machine hit her suddenly. She received medical treatment for her injuries, then went home.

She later fell ill at home and was rushed back to the hospital. Doctors found internal bleeding. The accident had ruptured her liver and caused severe hemorrhaging.

Yeter died after what a local paper described as a “series of oversights.” Logistics of the accident were still not immediately clear by Friday.

Engaged three months, then gone

Yeter had gotten engaged only three months earlier. She was 28 years old and working at the bowling alley inside the child entertainment center when the machine struck her.

Her fiancé panicked as her condition worsened. He pleaded with doctors to save her and even contacted medical professionals he knew personally.

It was not enough. The young woman who had just started planning a married life did not survive the injuries and the failures that followed.

Owner arrested after the death

Authorities arrested the 34-year-old owner of the child entertainment center after Yeter died. Charges were not reported.

Local reports from outlets including afyonturkeligazetesi.com and The Sun described the freak workplace accident, the liver rupture, the return trip to the hospital, and the arrest that followed.

The venue itself was not named in the available accounts. Neither was the owner. Neither was the fiancé. Absolute calendar dates were not given beyond the relative markers of Wednesday for the accident and Friday for the still-unclear logistics.

What is clear is the sequence: a worker tried to fix a glitch, a pin-setting machine struck her, she was treated and sent home, she collapsed again, internal bleeding from a ruptured liver was found, and she died. Then the owner was taken into custody.

Workplace danger does not stay on the lane

Pin-setting machines are heavy industrial equipment sitting a few feet from families and kids at play. When a glitch hits, someone has to clear it. In Corum, that someone was a 28-year-old woman with a wedding in her future.

She paid with her life. Her fiancé watched the medical system fail to reverse the damage. A local paper pointed to a series of oversights tied to the death. The owner of the center was arrested once she was gone.

Names, charges, and the full mechanical picture remain thin in the public record so far. The human cost does not. A worker tried to do her job. The machine hit her. Oversights followed. She never made it to the wedding she had just begun to plan.

When a workplace kills a young employee and the boss ends up in handcuffs, the public is right to demand hard answers, and real accountability, before the next glitch claims another life.
