Donald Trump Jr. and Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson will marry over Memorial Day weekend in a scaled-back ceremony far from the White House spotlight, opting for a small gathering of family and close friends instead of the lavish Washington affair the couple once envisioned.

The decision, as the Daily Mail reported, came after the couple initially pushed their wedding date to the fall. The concern: a splashy celebration during the Iran conflict would hand critics easy ammunition against President Trump. With no end to that conflict in sight, the 48-year-old eldest son of the president and his 39-year-old fiancée chose not to wait any longer.

That choice tells you something about the family's priorities. Rather than stage a media spectacle, they're keeping it tight, and keeping the focus where it belongs, on the presidency and the country's wartime footing.

A private affair by design

A source close to the couple described the wedding plans in blunt terms:

"They want to have a very private, private event. It will be quite lovely."

The guest list will reportedly be limited to family and a handful of old college friends, people described as "especially tight" with the couple. The venue itself apparently can't accommodate a grand occasion even if they wanted one. The New York Post reported the wedding will take place in the Bahamas.

In a detail that underscores just how small the event will be, the source said even President Trump is not currently planned to attend. "But you never know with him, of course," the friend added. "Maybe he will drop in. He's been known to do those kind of things."

The couple's insistence on secrecy mirrors how they handled the engagement itself. Trump Jr. proposed to Anderson at Camp David in December 2025, during a celebration of her birthday. That event was tightly controlled, and the couple wants to maintain the same discipline around the wedding.

A friend of the couple put it plainly:

"I think this is something they just want to get through, get it done. So they can get on with their lives, move on to the next chapters for all the things they want to achieve. And in due time I understand there will be a small celebration at the White House where clearly President Trump will be involved."

So the White House celebration isn't off the table, just postponed until the timing is right.

From Camp David proposal to Mar-a-Lago bridal shower

The wedding caps a whirlwind courtship that became public in late 2024. Trump Jr. and Anderson started dating around the same time he broke off his engagement to Kimberly Guilfoyle, the former Fox News host who now serves as U.S. Ambassador to Greece.

The Daily Mail first spotted the couple in August 2024, during a brunch date at The Honor Bar in Palm Beach's Royal Poinciana Plaza. A witness at the time described the scene: "She seemed totally smitten with Don, and he with her. They were definitely on a date."

By December 2024, the relationship was fully in the open. Exclusive photos showed Trump Jr. and Anderson walking hand in hand from the Palm Beach restaurant Buccan during her 38th birthday celebrations. He wore a blue suit and white shirt. She stayed close, their fingers interlocked. No effort to hide.

That birthday weekend was extravagant by any standard. Anderson posted a photo of a bottle of 2013 Salon champagne, typically priced around $1,300, being poured, writing "S is for Spoiled." Trump Jr. sent her a card reading, "I think you're perfect." The couple announced their engagement at the White House holiday party in December 2025. Experts said it may have been larger and more valuable than the ring Trump Jr. gave Guilfoyle in 2022.

The bridal shower at Mar-a-Lago

Just weeks before the wedding, Anderson held a bridal shower at Mar-a-Lago that drew the Trump women in force. Ivanka Trump, 44, led the group, which included her 14-year-old daughter Arabella, sister-in-law Lara Trump, 43, sister Tiffany Trump, 32, and Trump Jr.'s daughter Kai, 18.

Ivanka posted photos from the event on Instagram, writing she was "so grateful to share this joyous moment." Anderson wore a strapless tea-length white dress with silver floral embroidery, paired with $1,500 Manolo Blahnik satin slingback pumps with a crystal toe.

Marla Maples, President Trump's second wife, also attended. First Lady Melania Trump, 55, was not present. At one point during the celebration, Trump Jr. dropped in carrying a massive red floral bouquet and kissed his future bride.

Anderson's Palm Beach roots

Bettina Anderson comes from deep Palm Beach money. Her father, the late Harry Loy Anderson Jr., became the country's youngest bank president when he took the helm of Worth Avenue National Bank at age 26. Her mother, Inger Anderson, 75, still lives in an $11.5 million home in one of the enclave's most exclusive sections.

Anderson has a twin sister and two brothers, Kent and Harry Loy III. Together with her brothers, she co-founded The Paradise Fund in 2005, a charity that supports children worldwide through humanitarian aid and disaster relief.

She attended Palm Beach Day School, then St. Andrew's School in Boca Raton, where fees for senior boarders run above $72,000. She earned a B.A. in Art History, Criticism and Conservation from Columbia University, lived in New York for several years, then returned to Palm Beach, where she became a fixture of the town's social circuit.

At the time the relationship became public, the couple was spending nights at Anderson's $860,000 townhouse in West Palm Beach, about a mile from Mar-a-Lago. Property records show she still owns it.

The Guilfoyle chapter

The transition from Guilfoyle to Anderson was not seamless. When the Daily Mail first photographed Trump Jr. and Anderson at brunch in August 2024, he was still officially living in a $17.5 million waterfront mansion with Guilfoyle in the high-security Admiral's Cove community in Jupiter, about 20 miles north of Mar-a-Lago.

The Memorial Day weekend wedding represents a conscious trade-off: intimacy over spectacle, family over optics. The couple could have waited for the war to wind down and staged the grand White House event. They chose not to.
