Omar’s husband reappears after Homeland Security home search as Trump presses couple on wealth

Rep. Ilhan Omar’s husband was spotted back at their Washington home after federal agents ran a search warrant there, as President Trump demands answers on the couple’s net worth, cars, and D.C. housing.

Tim Mynett walked the family dog, a yellow Labrador named Teddy, along the sidewalk toward the couple’s Washington, D.C., house on Tuesday and kept his eyes fixed on the ground. The appearance came one day after Homeland Security Investigations agents executed a search warrant at the property early Monday morning and removed belongings.

The New York Post reported the activity as a Department of Homeland Security operation tied to what is believed to be an ongoing criminal fraud investigation into the Minnesota Democrat’s immigration paperwork. Omar’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The home is a four-bedroom, 1,900-square-foot Cape Cod assessed at about $600,000. Property records do not list Omar or Mynett as owners, and the house has previously been listed for rent.

Trump zeroes in on the net-worth flip and the D.C. house

President Trump took to Truth Social on Tuesday and laid out a string of questions about money, housing, and immigration. He focused first on Omar’s financial disclosures and the sharp change in reported wealth.

Trump wrote:

"Why did Ilhan Omar report a Net Worth of up to 30 Million Dollars just a short time ago, and then immediately say, ‘Oh, I made a mistake! It’s really $100,000,’ Could it be that her highly paid accountant actually reported the money that was stolen from her fraudulent activities in Minnesota? Would something like that be possible? Do you think the accountant actually gave the right number the first time, 30 Million Dollars, and then she was forced to disavow because she never would have been able to report where that much money came from? She must have freaked out when she saw that money!"

He followed with direct questions about assets the couple appears to enjoy.

"Where did her house come from, where did her cars come from, and what about her lovely place in Washington, D.C.?"

Trump also noted the income picture around Mynett:

"I didn’t know that Congressmen and women made that kind of money, but I do know her husband, according to information and belief, makes almost nothing, so it couldn’t have come from him."

He closed the barrage by asking how many people Omar “illegally” brought into the country from Somalia and declared that America wants answers now. The posts land amid long-running scrutiny of progressive House Democrats’ personal finances, including cases where Ocasio-Cortez still carries student loan debt after years drawing a full congressional salary.

Disclosures show a $30 million valuation, then almost no income

House financial disclosure records fill in the numbers Trump highlighted. In the 2024 filing, Mynett initially valued his venture capital firm, Rose Lake Capital, and a California-based wine business, eStCru, at up to $30 million. In the 2025 disclosure, he reported no income from the venture capital firm and only $200 to $1,000 from the wine business, which shut down in April.

That swing, from a multi-million-dollar asset picture to near-zero reported earnings, is the gap Trump is pressing. No charging documents, case number, or public warrant affidavit appear in the available reporting, and the specific immigration paperwork under review has not been detailed publicly.

Federal agents showing up at a sitting lawmaker’s residence is rare enough to draw national attention. Similar scenes have played out in other high-profile Democratic cases, including when FBI agents descended on Eric Swalwell’s D.C. home during a separate misconduct probe.

Marriage history and Minnesota accountability questions

Mynett’s place in Omar’s personal story is not new. Breitbart reported in 2019 that Omar filed for divorce from Ahmed Hirsi, the father of her three children, while allegations of an extramarital affair with political strategist Tim Mynett were circulating. That coverage also recounted Omar’s complex marital timeline: an Islamic ceremony with Hirsi in 2002, a legal remarriage in 2018 after a 2008 separation, and earlier allegations that she married her alleged brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, in 2009, claims Trump has long repeated.

Those personal questions now sit beside larger Minnesota accountability fights. State Democrats have faced heavy criticism over fraud oversight, including the collapse of claims that Sen. Amy Klobuchar had been a consistent fraud fighter after a review found zero mention of Minnesota’s billion-dollar scandal in key materials.

Immigration enforcement and public safety remain live issues in the same state. Recent coverage has tracked cases such as an Ethiopian migrant charged with executing three apartment staffers in St. Paul over a parking dispute, another reminder that paperwork integrity and border consequences are not abstract for Minnesota communities.

What is known, and what still is not

Here is the verified sequence. Early Monday, HSI agents executed a search warrant at the D.C. Cape Cod and removed belongings. Tuesday, Mynett reappeared walking the dog. Trump posted the same day challenging the net-worth revision, the source of housing and cars, the husband’s thin reported income, and Omar’s Somalia-related immigration record. Disclosure forms show the earlier up-to-$30-million valuation of Rose Lake Capital and eStCru, followed by the 2025 report of no venture-capital income and minimal wine-business income after the April shutdown. Property records do not name Omar or Mynett as owners.

Still unanswered: the precise calendar dates beyond the Monday-Tuesday sequence, the exact items seized, any public affidavit spelling out the immigration-paperwork theory, ownership or lease details on the D.C. house, and a direct statement from Omar beyond the earlier net-worth “mistake” characterization Trump cited.

Taxpayers fund congressional salaries and expect clean disclosures, lawful immigration processes, and equal application of search warrants. When a member’s reported wealth swings from tens of millions to six figures, when the spouse’s businesses show little income, and when federal agents cart property out of a rented-looking D.C. house, the public is right to demand a straight accounting, not silence and shrugs.
